Empire star and rapper Bryshere Gray is heading to the big house. The troubled actor has been having a rough last couple of months. Also known as Yazz, Gray has had some legal issues since his hit Fox series wrapped last year. As we reported back in February, Gray’s run-ins with the law stemmed from a incident with his wife, resulting in a stand-off with police and 2 hr interrogation.
Reports initially surfaced last July stating that Gray had been locked up following an alleged incident involving his wife Candice Jimdar at their Arizona home. According to Goodyear PD, they responded to a call at 10:15 pm on a Sunday evening. Gray, who also starred in BET’s top-rated television miniseries The New Edition Story as Michael Bivins, initially refused to leave his home or cooperate.
Because he refused to come outside, they had to call a swat team and negotiator to speak with him. At around 7 a.m. the following Monday, Gray was taken into custody and booked.

Jimdar told the officers that she had confronted Gray after seeing messages on his phone between himself and other women. According to her, Gray maintained that the messages were “fake” before he began to put his hands on her.
Footage of his interrogation with investigators has now been made public. In the two hour-long stand-off, Gray can be seen defending himself, pleading, “I have a career, I’m an artist, I have a lot of things to lose.” He then initially referred to Jimdar as his “best friend” before responding to the inquiry if they were married by saying “in a way.”
Gray also made claims in the video that he and Jimdar were in an “open relationship.” “We have an open relationship as well, so I allow her to have a boyfriend because I’m really busy,” he told officers. He also mentioned a man named “Mark” who his wife was seeing and alleged that maybe he was the one who attacked her after Gray had stepped out that evening.
It looks like Gray was at fault for the drama that night because he was handed a sentence. The former Empire star will face ten days in jail as a result.
