Actor Tyrese Reveals He’s Suffering Financially, Says He Has Plenty Of Cars, But Money Is Drying Up For Him and Other Artists

Since earlier this year, live shows and other monetary opportunities have slowed down for everyone, including artists.  Celebrities and entertainers have had to find new and innovative ways to keep their businesses afloat as well as figuring out ways to promote their projects, including Broadway shutting down and every other live show, being that touring and most live venues have been shut down since beginning of the year.

The virus is still among us and there are still reasons to be precautious, but businesses around the country have slowly but surely begun to reopen.  However, theater, concert events, festivals, and other various live entertainment events that house large gatherings in contained spaces, are slated to remain on indefinite hiatus.  There has not been any word as to when they will reconvene.  

Many artists have been vocal about their circumstances surrounding everything shutting down and how it has altered their lives.  Sporting events even have been amended with various precautions respective to the organization.  The NBA has been operating their games under a bubble in Disney World and since they’ve begun, no players have tested positive for the virus.  

Award shows like the BET Awards, MTV’s Video Music Awards, and as of recently the Emmy awards, have all practiced social distancing and incorporated many virtual aspects in order to keep the show going as scheduled.  Some nominees had cameras set up in their respective homes or wherever they chose to celebrate.  

However many in the artist community have been, and continue to be devastated as they try and maneuver life through the chaos.  Many artists have continued to wait for assistance, praying that it will be forthcoming, however, there hasn’t been much word if any, especially with many states already suffering a deficit.  

Charlotte St. Martin, president of the national trade association The Broadway League, gave their thoughts as to when they foresee Broadway reopening.  “The chances that Broadway gets a bailout are slim to none,” she said.  The sentiment surely mirrors that of every other facet of music and entertainment, as it still hasn’t been figured out how to safely operate the events, although some artists have recently come under fire for performing at some clubs that have reopened in certain states.  

Singer and “Fast and Furious” star Tyrese Gibson has come forward with a recent comment on social media where he explained how hard it’s been for him as an artist.  The artist starts off to explain that he may have a lot of cars but goes on to say that money is “drying up” for artists.

“There are NO shows, no concerts, no club walkthroughs… For the actors and producers and directors there are NO movies being made it’s a whole COVID out here,” Gibson said.  “So although this is killing for IG the reality is most of us out here as “artist” new and the OG’s are feeling it….

“Liquidate while you can cause this Covid don’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon,” Gibson continued.  “The immature will say i’m hating…. The grown and mature will who know me will say i’m ALWAYS planting seed and trying to look out for my people.”
