Halle Berry’s love life has been a topic of conversation for years as it’s been sort of erratic. Her relationships and marriages have arrested the media as the drama tends to normally surround it, but it is her breakup with French Canadian model Gabriel Aubry that might take the cake. The ex-couple have stopped dating since 2010, but they are still dealing with severe issues as some new alleged tea has been spilled about Aubry from Berry during their contentious custody battle.
Following her marriage to R&B singer Eric Benet, which ended in divorce in 2005, the Oscar-winning “Monster’s Ball” actress began to date Gabriel Aubry, who was nearly ten years younger than her. According to People, the pair met while shooting a Versace ad. Their relationship would bring forth a daughter, Nahla, born in 2008.
Their relationships would not last, however, as it reached its end in 2010, beginning a tumultuous battle for years. A custody battle would only continue to heat up for years to follow. According to her rep, as told to PEOPLE, Berry “attempted to resolve these custody issues amicably with her daughter’s father, Gabriel Aubry, directly, but given his lack of cooperation, Halle has no choice but to seek swift judicial intervention.”
Reports would then begin to arise that Aubry and Berry’s then fiance’, French actor Oliver Martinez, were involved in a violent altercation during the Thanksgiving holiday, which left both injured and Aubry in custody.

After a judge denied the actress’s request to relocate their daughter to France, Berry was ordered by a judge to pay Aubry $16,000 a month in child support, as her income was significantly higher than his. The actress was also ordered to pay retroactive child support, as well as all expenses for her school, including tuition, E! News reports.
Since then, the actress’s child support payments have been sliced in half to $8k a month. Her feelings on paying child support, however, were evidently shown in a post uploaded to Instagram a few months ago. Berry posted a meme that declared “Women don’t owe you s**t” while captioning it “[and] that’s on Mary had a little lamb.”
Her sentiments reportedly continued in the comments when she engaged with a few fans, comparing child support to “extortion” and saying that it’s “wrong” and that it takes “great strength to pay it every day.”
Her responses to fans continued when according to Vanity Fair, another fan asked her whether or not she felt alimony payments by men were wrong as well to which she reportedly replied that she will not and perhaps doesn’t feel qualified to speak on alimony as according to Berry, “I have never asked for it nor have I ever paid it. However, as for child support, I feel I can speak on it as I’ve been paying it for a decade now.”
The actress then shared a lengthy reason as to why she is upset about the subject of child support payments.
“I feel if a woman or a man is having to pay support that is way more than the reasonable needs to help SUPPORT the child, I think that is wrong,” exclaimed the actress. “I understand some parents (man or woman) may need help, but I also feel that in these modern times both men and women have the responsibility to financially take care of their children and work hard and make every effort to do so. The way many laws are set up people are allowed to USE children in order to be awarded money to live a lifestyle that not only they did not earn, but that is way above and beyond the child’s reasonable needs, and that is ‘THE WRONG’ and where I see the abuse.”
She continued, “The laws are outdated and no longer reflect the modern world,” she reportedly added. “This is just my opinion I clearly don’t own the truth. I can say I’m living it every day and I can tell you it’s hard. I do totally understand the feelings of those men who feel they are and have been taken advantage of by the system.” She later thanked her followers for their love and support, saying, “This is an issue that affects so many families and I feel it’s a topic worthy of our discussion!”
Things don’t seem to have lightened up much as far as dealing with one another, especially if the explosive history that was recently revealed from 2011 court documents pertaining to their custody battle is correct. According to the court documents obtained by RadarOnline.com, Aubry is accused of using racial slurs and other racist behavior, as well as allegations of emotional abuse and Aubry having a “psychological disorder”.
As per the court documents, Halle’s testimony stated: “After the first six months of our relationship, our sex life diminished and after one year we had sex less than three times per year… Gabriel refused to either recognize or accept responsibility for these issues. Instead, he criticized my body in ways which are very demeaning to women … I finally convinced Petitioner to go to a joint therapist to address these issues.”
It then got weirder, as Berry revealed that her ex revealed to her that he had been involved in an incestuous relationship with a member of his family “for years” until the other party decided to end it.
Currently, Halle Berry has been dating singer Van Hunt and has been vocal about her love for the singer. Meanwhile, it’s been reported by Us Weekly that Gabriel Aubry and “Friends” actress Jennifer Aniston have been “casually dating” for some time, becoming a cover story for the mag.
