With all the truth now being fully revealed, August Alsina is feeling vindicated. The “Rounds” singer has spoken finally after enduring constant gossip over the past few weeks but as far he’s concerned, he loves “everybody” and has no issues with “anybody.”
Alsina’s claims about being in a relationship with Hollywood actress Jada Pinkett Smith drew a lot of attention. Alsina had claimed that not only was in a relationship with Pinkett, but that he had the blessing of “Big Willie” himself. He’d also claimed that he didn’t like “drama,” but felt he had to speak out because his character being “in question.”
While the interview from Alsina seemed to be a bombshell dropped by Alsina, from the beginning the singer has claimed that everyone involved knew what was about to happen and had even received a courtesy call before he did his sit down with Angela Yee of The Breakfast Club. Alsina stuck to his guns, doubling down with a lengthy Instagram post.
“The gift of freedom is yours to have, God promises us that, but only if you’re willing. &God is not a man that HE should lie.. & I’m His SON, so neither would I. 🙏🏽,” August’s post ends. “W/ that being said i should also say that, no one was side swiped by any conversation, everyone got courtesy calls time in advance.”
Now that Jada has come totally clean about their “entanglement,” August seems to be standing by his previous friends The Smiths and even seems to feel like he’s fine with everything having played out like it has.
“If you look up the definition of ‘entanglement,’ it is a complex and difficult relationship. It was exactly that,” he told the Vulture recently. “I definitely have to agree with it being an entanglement. It definitely was something complicated, a complicated dynamic.”
Alsina admitted he hadn’t spoken to any of the family since his telling his story went viral and public, but he told Vulture that things are all good as far as he’s concerned. It was reported that after their now-infamous Red Table Talk, the Smiths took a vacation to The Bahamas to avoid all the chatter.
“I don’t have an issue with anybody. I love everybody. I love all of them,” the musician said. “They’ve been my family, and there’s a lot of history there. They’re beautiful people. They’re beautiful spirits. They really are.”
Alsina also stated that there’s no awkward tension between him and the Smith family following the revelation, and he still loves them and considers them family.
On yesterday, the singer made a guest appearance on Lil’ Wayne’s Young Money Radio show on Beats 1. During the interview, Lil Wayne asked August “Do you miss her? Do you still love her?”
“Absolutely,” Alsina responded. “I feel like when you experience a certain type of experience on this planet and you experience a certain type of love, I will always have love for her as a person. The experience really did help to transform me.”
