Rapper Azealia Banks has been more know for her internet antics than her music over the last couple years. The “212” hitmaker is a go to source for popular blogs and tabloids looking for some quick click bait or a juicy sound bite. Well now she’s turning her sound bites into money with a new audio adult film.
Banks recently announced, then canceled, then re-announced her engagement to popular creative director Ryder Ripps. The two have wasted no time flaunting their relationship; collaborating on a music video for her 2018 single “Miss Camaraderie (Bon Vivant Remix)”, flaunting her engagement ring and showing out on their respective socials.
Their latest endeavor is an audio adult film that’s reportedly netted them $24k just 24 hours after its release. The project is titled “Azealia Banks: I F***d Ryder Ripps”.
Sold as an NFT, it was purchases for 10 Ethereum to a someone under the username @rultonfyder. Converted to normal money, it’s roughly the equivalent of US$17,252 (AU$22,519).
The concept of NFT is a new one. It stands for non-fungible token and is taken the internet by storm. It’s a good that cannot be exchanged for anything else of equal value.

According to NPR, “Non-fungible, meaning you can’t exchange it for another thing of equal value. A $10 bill can be exchanged for two $5 bills. One bar of gold can be swapped for another bar of gold of the same size. Those things are fungible. An NFT, though, is one of a kind.”
Historic NFT exchanges have been taken place over the last few weeks.
Singer Grimes recently made over $6 Million in a recent sale, while an NFT of LeBron James making a historic dunk for the Lakers garnered more than $200,000.

Banks took to her Instagram to share her thoughts on NFT before throwing her name into the ring.
“Can someone please do something outrageous with this NFT sh*t?” she wrote. In a description of the NFT, Banks said “This sale is for the full rights and sole access to the first audio s**-tape to be minted on the blockchain.”
“Recorded in February 2021 by Azealia Banks and boyfriend, Ryder Ripps, this sound-based artwork is sure to titillate for its full 24:22 duration.”

She continued “Upon purchase, a WAV file will be delivered to the buyer in addition to a 1 of 1 signed LP vinyl record. Full ownership, including limitless distribution and display rights are included in this sale. Don’t miss out on this historic & sexy event.”
