Nicki Minaj celebrated the 12 year anniversary of her breakthrough mixtape Beam Me Up Scotty by releasing it to all streaming platforms. The landmark project helped propel Minaj into the mainstream over a decade ago, and is no available for everyone to rediscover. The 2021 version of the collection features a handful of new records including “Seeing Green” featuring Drake and Lil Wayne. She kicked off the release with a live stream featuring a cameo from Drake. Following the stream several people weighed in on the re-release and stream including Azealia Banks. The Harlem MC did not hold back on Minaj and unloaded in her own now viral live stream.
Azealia has never been shy about her opinion on Minaj. It is usually all bad between the two, with Banks having come for Nicki several times over the years.
Last year when Nicki helped Doja Cat reach her first #1 record on the “Say So” remix, Banks chimed in calling out Minaj for beefing with Cardi but doing a song with Doja who at the time was embroiled in a racist scandal. “Another thing that I find f***ing funny, Nicki, is for all the f***ing mouth you have for Cardi B for talking s*** about black women, now you quiet because you got your little number one with this white bi***.”
“You a p***y a** b**** for that. You should’ve got right on that Queen Radio and you put that bitch down in the ground where the f*** she belongs. Now I’m looking back at it, you was just jealous of Cardi. You was just jealous because she’s got more swag than you.”
This is a far cry from 2017, when Banks reportedly tried to put their beef behind her in exchange for a collaboration. At one point Banks wanted Minaj and Scary Spice on her 2018 single “Anna Wintour”. She posted a series of private messages she sent to Nicki asking for a truce “I want to apologize for whatever catty shit I’ve said to and or about you in the past. I really do enjoy your artistry and think you’re so intelligent and clever. You have a really brilliant art mind and often times remind me a lot of myself.”
Following a string of post signaling her return after a hiatus to give birth to her first child, Minaj was finally back and everyone had something to say about it. For Banks, the comeback simply did not “give what needed to be gave”. “Yeah, it’s funny like — your titties look like a butt. Your titties look like they’re about to f*cking shart,” Banks continues. “But, yes we need an intervention on Ms. Nicki Minaj. That sniffling? I’m not buying that. And I know from experience, okay? I know from experience, sis.” She also posted a DM exchange between herself and a friend where she talks about Nicki’s body more.
In another video she told Nicki “we did not ask for crocs or AliExpress wet and wavy. We did not ask for prostyle gel.”
