When people think of the Knowles family, it’s not uncommon for the names Beyonce and Solange Knowles, along with their parents Mathew and Tina Knowles, who wed in 1980. What tends to remain forgotten for many is the fact that the sisters have two other YOUNGER siblings.
Throughout her career, Beyonce has gone from doing tons of interviews in attempts to promote albums and various projects to keeping promo to a minimum and having her private life remain private. Her work, marketing team, as well as word-of-mouth, have a tendency to take the reins when it comes to promotional work. With a career that spans stratospheric heights, her life is forever under a microscopic lens for the public as they continuously reach for new information about her: whether it be upcoming projects or her personal life.
Take for instance a January 2020 interview that the “Daddy Lessons” singer had with ELLE, where she answered candid questions from her fanbase, affectionately known as the BeyHive. When asked by a fan if she ever reacted to negative comments that she sees or hears about herself, she had this to say: “Yes, I’m human. In moments of vulnerability, I try to remind myself I’m strong and I’m built for this. Thank God most of the noise bounces off of me after all of these years.”
One of the things that the singer perhaps doesn’t want to discuss is her younger half-siblings, courtesy of her father and former manager, Matthew Knowles. You see, back in 2010 while still married to wife Tina, Mathew fathered a son, Nixon Alexander Knowles, with actress Alexsandra Wright after an 18-month affair. A paternity test revealed and confirmed that he was indeed the father, which was unacceptable for Tina who ultimately filed to end their marriage a month after the results. She cited “discord or conflict of personalities” that prevented them from “reasonable expectation of reconciliation” as the reason. Mathew not only lost his wife, but also his daughter as a client.
“I tried everything to not have it public. But unfortunately, that’s just not the way that Mathew chose to deal with this,” said Wright to Inside Edition in 2014. She claimed at the time that Knowles had not seen his son, nor had he met his older siblings, while he had been racking up a hefty child support bill. Further details emerged of their relationship in a statement she provided regarding their child support hearing.
“In the beginning, Mathew and I had a working relationship that encompassed mutual respect and professional admiration. When I met him I already had a very successful and financially viable professional career,” Wright stated. “He positioned himself as a mentor to me and someone that I could turn to for business advice. As time passed, our relationship turned into a very close personal one. I never wanted or intended to hurt anyone in the process. I regret the pain that I have contributed to his family and to my own family. I have the utmost respect and admiration for both of his daughters – they are both lovely women. I also regret the pain that this situation has caused his ex-wife, Tina, and very much wish one day I will get the opportunity to tell her personally.
Months after , another addition was brought into the Knowles clan, daughter Koi Knowles, by way of former dancer (and now real estate agent) TaQoya Branscomb. “He treated me like I was the love of his life,” she also said in an interview segment with Inside Edition. But, similar to that of Wright, Branscomb was ditched after she was impregnated by Knowles. “He’d had a vasectomy. Or at least that was what I was told,” she also said in the interview.
She too would have to take a paternity test. “You can’t deny it once DNA tests come out 99.9% that you are the father,” Branscomb insisted. At the time of the reveal, four-year old Koi was already singing and dancing, as seen in a video shared by Branscomb, while she revealed that she (just like with Nixon) had not met her siblings. “They are half-sisters and maybe one day down the line that can be made possible,” she added, while also expressing regret for her actions. “Yes, I slept with a married man and it was the wrong thing to do, but I have a beautiful daughter that came out of the situation.”
Koi has been drawing a lot of attention on social media, as fans simply can’t get enough of how the adorable little girl resembles her older sisters. The young Knowles sister is an aspiring model/actress as seen in her Instagram bio, and is already gaining quite a bit of a following across her social media platforms.
While it isn’t known if the two younger Knowles siblings have met their famous older siblings, fans are gushing over the young superstar in the making, and continue to offer words of encouragement. “Keep shooting for the stars You belong there!! You are a beautiful and talented girl!!!! It’s truly sad seeing a lot of these comments on a .. wait for it……. 9-Year-olds post whom you aren’t even related too or birthed. What is wrong with you people?? Any way Koi, you continue to shine,” one user commented under her picture. Another compared her to her superstar big sister. “You’re so pretty! You look a lot like beyoncé, but you have your own beautiful features like nobody else.”
One fan highlighted that it matters not who she looks like, young Koi should be left out of the crossfire. “Whether she looks like them or not; at the end, she’s a Lil superstars sister. The child is very innocent.. The mom and dad are the ones that brought her into this world. She didn’t ask. So stop saying negative things about this Lil angel from God. She’s meant to be in this world if she was not. She wouldn’t exist,” they expressed.
