Bow Wow Reveals ‘Losing His Mind’ After Losing Ciara, Says Janet Jackson and Jermaine Dupri Warned Him But He Didn’t Listen

There was a time where rapper Bow Wow and singer Ciara said these words, written by Jermaine Dupri and Johnta Austin, that not only became his highest Billboard Hot 100 charting US hit (and Ciara’s fifth top ten on the same chart), but would also ring true to their own lives:

“I ain’t never had nobody show me all the things that you can show me/And the special way I feel when you hold me/We gone always be together baby that’s what you told me/And I believe it/’Cause I ain’t never had nobody do me like you.”

During that time, the pair shared a mutual love for one another, in that they had been in a real-life, high-profile relationship that many thought from the outside looking in was a genuine young love affair.  However, forever doesn’t last, and the two would split after two years of dating and a brief engagement.  

Since the ex-couple’s split in 2006, both have moved on to other relationships and have also had children.  After kissing a few more frogs, Ciara would go on to find her “king” in 2015 when she met and began dating Seattle Seahawks quarterback, Russell Wilson.  Most recently, she’s given birth to her third child, a son, and second by Wilson.

The relationship between Ciara and Bow Wow hasn’t been the greatest since their split.  While Ciara has not given any attention to the rapper, real name Shad Moss, he seems to reminisce much on the love he had with his ex-fiancé on a frequent basis.  Take for example an episode of We TV’s Growing Up Hip Hop: Atlanta where he was seen having a discussion with daughter of Jermaine Dupri, Shaniah Maudlin, where he revealed that he was once engaged to the “Level Up” singer and that he had some regrets pertaining to their relationship, as well as with his other ex-fiance’ Erica Mena.  “You know I let things in the past that I know was wrong affect my engagement. That’s what was eating me alive,” he said before saying that he “let something get away that really shouldn’t even got away.”

Prior to that, he had also mentioned the singer in an interview with VladTV, where he confessed he didn’t realize what he had when he was with her until their relationship dissipated.  “I didn’t know I cared for her until I tried to play her. Being a d**k, egotistic,” he explained.  “She kind of bossed up on me at a JAY-Z concert. Then her record went No. 1. I remember Janet [Jackson] always telling me, ‘You know Bow, she’s a sweet girl. You should just try.’ And I was like, ‘I don’t know, I don’t know.’ And Jermaine [Dupri] said, ‘It’s gonna take him seeing that girl with somebody else and he gon’ lose his f—ing mind, don’t tell him nothing.’ And that’s exactly how it happened.”

In a much recent interview, the rapper appeared with Omarion on the Tidal podcast, Rap Radar with B. Dot and Elliott Wilson, where he discussed why he feels they will probably never perform the song together again.  He confessed that he tried to make it happen after being asked by the hosts if they would sing it again as they were there to promote their Millennium Tour II earlier this year, but “after that video that went viral of me…I don’t know if she would,” he said.

Omarion suggests he hit husband Russel Wilson for the clearance, to which Bow Wow states, “Yeah, we gotta man up. Yeah, it was too much Ciroc. I was feeling myself and it just—you know. But we tried it, though. We had a big tour in Australia, myself, Snoop, Game, Fat Joe—Snoop will tell you that, that was one of the f*cking best tours he’s ever did. All of us together. I said there is no way in the world me and her can not do this record. She was dating Amar’e Stoudemire at the time and for me, I’m thinking, like yo–Because she’s still performing that record on her set, alone. It’s a number one record. And she has a verse and the hook with me. We tried it.”

The viral video the “Shortie Like Mine” rapper is referring to is a clip of a club appearance where while rapping along to their joint collaboration, he says over the microphone while he raps along to the lyrics “If I’m seen with a girl then she gotta be just (like you)/And baby that’s the way I feel,” before adding, “Ay yo, I had this b*tch first, you know that, right?”

He definitely could be right that she wouldn’t perform with him anymore, as a source close to the couple had this to say on the matter.  “Ciara and Russell really have nothing to say about the whole Bow Wow situation,” the source said. “They are so above that drama and don’t even have time to respond to something as petty as that. They’re both living their best lives and super focused on their careers and new projects.”
