Nick Cannon and Eminem have been beefing for years, but it looks like with the release of Mariah Carey’s memoirs last month, the feud had been reignited. But has there even been a clear winner in this sporadic beef? Media personality Charlamagne Tha God has chosen a side and has some thoughts on which rapper truly won.
“Word to the Terror Squad, Joe, this is all puns aside though/I know me and Mariah didn’t end on a high note,” rapped Em on Fat Joe’s 2019 song “Lord Above.” “But that other dude’s whipped, that p—y got him neutered/Tried to tell him this chick’s a nut job before he got his jewels clipped/Almost got my caboose kicked, fool, quit, you not gon’ do shit/I let her chop my balls off, too ‘fore I lost to you, Nick.”
Cannon responded, along with the help of some of his own clique – and none other than Suge Knight from jail by phone.
“Nick is family, and this is your invitation to prove to everybody else what you’re about. Winner takes all. Eminem’s a b—h,” starts Suge on the track, before the rest of the team starts in.
Suge “Jacob” Knight then went on a social media rant before deleting most of the posts, in which he counted a lot of the various ways that he thought Eminem “sucked” in defense of family friend Cannon and to show his loyalty to his father.
Previously, Cannon sat down with T.I.’s podcast ExpediTIously with T.I. to talk about how and why the beef with Eminem got so heated – and why it almost came to blows, with Nick promising to go to Detroit to find where Eminem was “hiding.”
“I think we was flying back on a jet from Africa or somewhere and this mf’er drops a song, like, talking s**t. Calling her [Mariah] all kinds of b—es and h–s,” said Cannon to T.I. “I’m like, this is my wife. This is my new wife. I wrote a letter first, I don’t even know if Twitter had came out yet. So, I wrote this long-a** letter pretty much saying, look, I respect you as an artist. I’m actually a fan and I think you’re one of the best to ever do it. But from man to man, you talking out of pocket to my wife. You gotta be held accountable for that so I need to see you face-to-face.”
With all this back and forth over the years, there doesn’t ever seem to have been a clear winner crowned in this ongoing fight. The Breakfast Club’s Charlamagne Tha God weighed in on the beef in a resurfaced clip with his opinion on who the true winner is – and it might not be who you think.
“First of all, Eminem lost and the reason he lost is because he made Nick Cannon do what none of us want him to do and that’s rap,” said the popular host. “I think that Nick Cannon won that one. I think that Nick Cannon and The Black Squad — even though they jumped Eminem — I think they got that one.” The radio host also questioned Eminem’s history of winning battles stating, “We got to stop acting like Eminem has ever really washed someone. Who has he battled ..? What rappers has Em battled? Canibus is the probably the best lyricist Em has ever gone after. But Canibus wasn’t in his prime.”
