Singer Ciara and NFL Star Russell Wilson are the picture of a perfect family. The happily married couple have been everyone’s relationship goals since first stepping out together as a couple in April of 2015. The union was especially inspiring because of the very public and toxic relationship Ciara had just prior to Russell, with Hip-hop star Future.
The two had a child together, Future Jr, before going their separate ways due to irreconcilable differences. At the time, Ciara recalls being distraught and heartbroken. In a 2019 interview with Red Table Talk, she said “I’d have moments when I would be in the shower, I’d be crying.”
Ciara eventually bounced back and found new love. Future on the other hand has had a series of failed relationships since their split, fathered children with different women and building his music and brand around his toxic persona. Its proven to be a winning formula for him as he continues to rack up hit records and viral memes.
In the time since their split, Future has also made his thoughts on Ciara’s now husband very clear and public. Despite Wilson stepping into his son’s life as a positive role model, and taking on the child as his own, Future has had nothing but bad things to say about him. In his song “Juice” Future raps, “Tryna f— my baby mama, dog what’s up with you? You gon’ make me get that heat, I’m pulling up on you.”
He even accused Ciara of “controlling” Wilson. “He do exactly what she tell him to do.” He continued on saying he should be a “man” and not allow Ciara to mention his name in public. The rapper said “He not tellin’ her, ‘Chill out with that on the internet. Don’t even talk to him. I’m your husband!”
Speaking to GQ recently, the Wilson’s took the high road when finally addressing Future’s negativity in the media. When asked directly about how Future’s toxicity may have effected the family, Wilson had this to say: “I don’t think anybody made it hard. I think it was easy for us. I think it was about us. It wasn’t about anything else. It was about how we were going to love, and for me it was easy. It was easy to love. It’s easy to love C—every day I get to love her and take care of her and our kids is the greatest gift I have. So I cherish that every day.”
Ciara followed up with, “”And I will also say from day one we’ve been living for us. Russ—I mean, he did talk about, you know, how he feels and this passion from a father’s perspective, but what’s always been beautiful about Russ is just to see him from day one, excitingly jumping in and changing diapers.”
The happy couple married in July 2016, and have since welcomed baby girl Sienna 3, and newborn Win, 6 months.
