Comedian Tiffany Haddish has been gushing lately about her new love Common, sharing that the two have been in a relationship that started right around the time the quarantine did. While she’s definitely happy, she’s still Tiffany and she’s shared a story of a rapper love that once was – Drake.
The Girls Trip actress’ quarantine love has been top of the blog’s minds as her star has continued to rise. Even with all that’s going on in the United States, Haddish has seemingly found a way to keep her spirits light, hold onto a new love and still keep working. She’s weighed in like many celebrities on all the changes in the world and her previous thoughts were just as hilarious, and serious, as she is.
During a recent virtual roundtable discussion with The Hollywood Reporter, Tiffany continued to do this hilariously with her other panel members.
“Like, people have asked me, ‘Tiffany, how can we solve this? What do you think we could do?'” she continued. “To be honest, I don’t know. But I know when I have problems and I want them solved, I just stop having sex and everything’s solved. So, if everybody just stopped having s-x, especially if you are in an interracial relationship […]Things will change.”
“If a Black man ain’t gettin’ [none],” she said, “he’s going to team up with the white man. ‘Look, brother, we’ve got to figure this out. OK […] We’ve got to make it right.’”
Making things right seems to be on a lot of people’s minds with all that’s going on. Many are finding themselves anxious about the future and wanting the nostalgia of the pre-coronavirus days. Haddish herself has been waxing on about some of her other high-profile celebrity encounters during her time at home and rapper Drake is on that list – unfortunately, as the one that potentially got away.
Haddish and a whole host of others appeared in Drake’s 2008 video for his hit song “Nice for What,” and it was around the time of this experience that Haddish’s story starts on her interactions with the global superstar. She shared the story in an interview with fellow comedienne Luenell on VladTV. Turns out, it all started with a DM. Power, indeed.
“I had no relationship with Drake whatsoever,” Tiffany Haddish admitted. “I would explore it if he was trying to… What kind of personality do he got? What’s the tea with him? He had slid in my DMs, I had no idea. I ran into him at a party and he was like, ‘Man, I was in your DMs. I’m trying to get you to do my music video.'”
Haddish indeed checked her messages and there was Drake. She accepted, did the video and it was then that Drake told her he’d like to take her for dinner.
However, as the story goes, told by Haddish, that Drake had to cancel at the last minute for a “family emergency.” Haddish believed this emergency years ago was the birth of his then-secret son with Sophie Brussaux, Adonis.
Even Luenell herself claims that she would have “risked it” with a “stripper” to have Drake’s baby.
