Daycare Owner Who Paid $100K Bond To Have R. Kelly Released Now Wants Her Money Back

They say that a friend in need is a friend indeed.  A woman by the name of Valencia Love who is claiming to be friends with controversial singer/songwriter R. Kelly made a huge gesture to help ensure his freedom but now is ready to walk it back.

Love, an Illinois business owner, made news when she made a payment of $100k toward’s the “I Believe I Can Fly” singer’s bail.  No connection between the two was made beside her description of being his “friend”.  Once news broke of her efforts to have him released, Love was immediately faced with ramifications for her decision.

Fox32 News’ Tia Ewing got a chance to speak to Love on her decision to publicly support the singer, to which she defended her decision because she believed Kelly was innocent, simply because he told her so.  Love also would not reveal where the money came from in the 14-minute interview.

“I’m not going to say it was my money or [Kelly’s] and he’s not broke,” Love reportedly said to Ewing.  “[…] He’s my friend and I knew he needed help.” To make the payment, Love reportedly broke it down in four installments of $25,000 Claiming that Kelly was “going to get out regardless”, the Illinois native proceeded to share her belief that the public was acting too swift in their judgment on the singer.

“I wasn’t there, you wasn’t there. Give him the chance and allow him to prove his innocence,” Love stated. “He’s not a monster, he’s not… He’s only been a gentleman to me.” Love continued to inquire why attention wasn’t being placed in other areas, while stating that she does not support pedophilia.  “There are three sides to every story, his side, there’s (the alleged victims), and the truth,” she wrote before adding, ”Let him have his chance in court to prove if he’s innocent or guilty. As a friend if he says he’s innocent, I can only believe that he is innocent.”

According to court documents revealed by the Daily Mail, Valencia Love owns several restaurants as well as a childcare facility ironically called the Lord and Child Christian Day Care.  Many people issued statements of disgust on their social media towards Love, especially seeing as though she deals with children for a living.  “I’m disgusted at the fact that someone who works in childcare paid R. Kelly’s bail. I hope every parent pulls their child from her daycare,” wrote a Twitter user whose comments mirrored that of many.  Love’s businesses went on to suffer immensely after news of her support went public.

Thanks to her massive donation, Kelly was able to be released.  However, months later the singer was locked up on more charges.  In a turn of events, Love is now claiming that she did not know of the federal investigation surrounding Kelly, and is now seeking her money to be returned to her.  A judge ruled against her receiving her money back, saying there was no legal basis for it.
