With T.I. being so outspoken on a bevy of issues of social and cultural importance, the furor over his comments made about his 18-year-old daughter had seemed to go away. Now, Deyjah Harris herself has once again made statements that are being linked to her father and his treatment of her.
T.I. previously “shared” that he takes his daughter to the doctor every year since her 16th birthday to have her hymen checked.
Tip appeared on the “Ladies Like Us” podcast and the almost 40-year-old man told the women hosts Nazanin Mandi and Nadia Moham that he does yearly trips with his 18-year-old daughter Deyjah to “check her purity.”
Clifford “T.I.” Harris shares his daughter not with his famous wife, Tiny – but with his ex, named Niko. He told the hosts,“Right after the birthday, we celebrate and then usually, like, the day after the party, she’s enjoying her gifts, I put a sticky note on the door [that says,] ‘Gyno. Tomorrow. 9:30.’”
Shortly after the information broke and went wide, Deyjah unfollowed her father on both Twitter and Instagram, a move which ultimately surprised no one because of the negative perceptions of both her and her father that his comments sparked.
The whole thing led the 18-year-old to delete Instagram and all of her other social media, eventually. The backlash and constant questions and comments proved to be too much for Deyjah, with even other celebrities weighing in – including women artists that had worked with her father before like Iggy Azealea.
In a series of now deleted tweets, the 29–year-old wrote: “Unfortunately, he is dead serious. I really wish the women who interviewed him would have said something to him. He has serious control issues with women in all aspects of his life and needs therapy.” These comments come during a time when the “Fancy” rapper and her previous mentor are beefing, after T.I. said that working with Azealea “tarnished” his legacy.
In the latest season of the T.I. & Tiny: Friends & Family Hustle we’re finally let into the mind of the young woman as the news breaks on social media. “I’m scrolling on Twitter and I see I’m tagged in a post and all I see is ‘gynecologist,’ and I didn’t even need to read the whole title. I just knew. My heart sank. I’m very shocked, hurt, angry, embarrassed.”
“I just can’t really be around him right now,” Deyjah said to her cousins in the clip. “I’m not saying he’s a bad parent, but when it comes to stuff like this… I’m just going to be more connected mentally and emotionally. I don’t know. I don’t want to say I’m looking at him differently because of this — I don’t know. More so our relationship, I’m going to look at differently.”
These previous comments echo her latest tweets, which many have been interpreted to be targeted towards her father and once again, has highlighted the rift in their relationship.
“Watch how you speak to your children. I don’t care how old they are, they still deserve the same respect that you expect in return,” she wrote. “I still love you .. but from a distance. not because I don’t care about you, but more so for the sake of my own well-being and inner peace.”

With her tweets living on the timeline, T.I. himself then took to The Shade Room comments to call out the outlet for intensely focusing on his daughter’s comments and asked that they put the spotlight onto him instead.
“@theshaderoom Y’all reaching. Every adult felt this way as an adolescent at some point in life,” wrote Tip. “Only difference here is…she’s TI’s daughter. Let he LIVE Cuzz…. she finding her place in the world & doesn’t deserve to be under the microscope every step of the way. I can handle that pressure & I welcome it,so apply it to ME… leave her tf ALONE please. Sincerely, A loving Father.”
