Faith Evans and Stevie J‘s union is a curious one. The music veterans have been friends for decades, but never seemed like the type to get together. Evans has maintain a pretty low profile since her 90’s debut while Stevie opted for the small screen fame of Love & Hip-Hop and all that came with it.
Faith was famously linked to Notorious B.I.G at the start of her career. They were married in 1994 rather quickly, after only knowing each other for eight days before tying the knot. They were hip-hop’s hottest couple. At that time they were both a part of the same record label, Bad Boy Records.
Speaking on their relationship with Vibe Magazine, Biggie had this to say, “I married her after knowing her eight days and I was happy. That was my baby,” he said. At the same time, with us being so spontaneous, we did it backwards.”
Stevie’s most famous union is that with Joseline Hernandez. He discovered Joseline while she was performing as a stripper at the Onyx Club in Atlanta. The two hit it off and became a couple. He brought her along for the ride when he began his tenure on Love and Hip-Hop: Atlanta. She was initially introduced to the audience as an aspiring artist he’d signed before revealing the two to be a couple.
Stevie and Faith had a fast union as well. The pair had been friends for years, and when they finally decided to give their relationship a chance, wedding bells came pretty soon after. They had a quick ceremony in Las Vegas, and are now living their lives happily with their blended family.
Speaking with Behind Every Man, the two were candid about the earlier stages of their relationship. Faith admits to taking a step back shortly after they got together due to Stevie’s relationship with Joseline who was still in the picture at the time.
“I wasn’t quite sure whether or not he was still involved with this ex,” Faith said in a clip of the episode. “So, you know when you kind of told me you guys weren’t together and then shortly thereafter finding out that you still kinda were, I think that’s probably when I stepped away because I’m not a man stealer, a home wrecker, you know.”
She was not interested in being a side chick and was very familiar with Stevie’s past so she felt the need to give him space until he sorted things out. “It was way too much for me,” Faith added. “This was the main thing, if you’re not really serious, please don’t do this to our friendship.”
