Paying taxes is one of those indisputable responsibilities we all have to do. It is an American duty that becomes even more troublesome for some of our favorite celebrities who already have enough trouble managing their expenses. Every year we hear stories about stars who seem to have simply forgot about their taxes, sometimes owing $1000’s as a result. Recently, female rapper Cuban Doll took to her social media to vent about paying taxes, and her plans to skip out all together. Here are a couple celebrity horror stories for others who opted to do the same.
New York rap legend Ja Rule knows a thing or two about skipping out on taxes. The “Mesmerize” hitmaker, born Jeffrey Atkins, reportedly owes over $3 million dollars to the Internal Revenue Service. According to Black Enterprise.com, “Ja Rule and his wife Aisha Atkins owe the Internal Revenue Service over $3 million in taxes. Attorneys for the United States of America have filed a lawsuit that claims the married couple owes the country unpaid taxes from 2005 – 2010 and also for 2012 – 2017. The total owed from the duo is an astounding $3,139,237.76!”
Wesley Snipes is another celebrity who had to learn the hard way when it comes to paying taxes. In 2010, the Blade star was acquitted of felony federal tax fraud and conspiracy charges but convicted of willfully failing to file tax returns from the years 1999 to 2004. He attempted to appeal the case, the court refused, and he served three years — the maximum sentence — in a federal prison before he was released.

Jersey Shore star Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino found himself in trouble as well for not paying his taxes. He reportedly owed the Internal Revenue Service over $9 million in unpaid taxes and had to serve 8 months in jail. He and his brother failed to reported taxes for their business and then falsified documents to cover up the six figure error. Sorrentino also served 2 years of supervised release, 500 hours of community service and was asked to pay a $10,000 fine.
Cuban Doll might be looking to join these guys after taking to her twitter to proclaim she does not want to pay her taxes. The 23 year old MC took to her social media to let fans know that she would rather in jail than to have to deal with it. “Paying taxes ain’t for me,” she reportedly tweeted this week. “I’ll sit in jail f*ck y’all.” Fans in the comments joked that she was planning to “pull a Wesley Snipes”. The 90’s actor famously got in trouble for not paying his taxes. Check out her now deleted tweet below.
