For many years, plastic surgery has been linked to female bodies, while men go under the radar with their procedures. In recent times, many men have become more open with their body transformations, showing that for some of them it goes beyond what meets the eye… or the gym. Legendary New York Hot 97 disc jockey Funkmaster Flex is one of the men who admittedly has gone under the knife for cosmetic surgery, but not without exposing some others along with him.
To cap off a wild 2020, Funk Flex unexpectedly sent social media into a frenzy when he shared his weight loss journey had some acceleration by way of liposuction. After dropping 40 pounds with the help of “40 Day Reset”, he made the decision to suck the fat out via cosmetic procedure. “Today I took a step I always wanted to try!” captioned Flex in his post to Instagram as he documented the procedure. Stating that the target areas were his “lower stomach, arm pit sides and back fat,” he goes on to say that he endured “No anesthesia, awake the entire time! I really enjoyed it!”
In the video, Wu-Tang Clan member Raekwon’s iconic “Ice Cream” played in the background as he underwent the procedure. This, coupled with his decision to not only have liposuction done but broadcast it, prompted a multitude of social media users to troll the DJ. “Funkmaster Flex casually getting Lipo while listening to Wu-Tang in what seems to be his house is… On-brand for pandemic Twitter/IG circa 2020,” said one user. Another viral video of the DJ spread of him superimposed on to rapper Megan Thee Stallion to the tune of her single, “Body,”
In the midst of the hilarious memes, Funkmaster Flex joined in jest to himself sharing a select few of the reactions while also sharing a picture showing three containers of his removed fat. Flex recently appeared as a guest on Million Dollaz Worth of Game where he spoke on his decision as well as the process. Within the conversation, however, Flex alleges that some other famous men have also undergone the same procedure.
“I went public with it just because I thought everyone did,” Flex claims. “Now, I can’t say I seen, but I can say, you know, I did, to my knowledge, Drake and Kanye and LL [Cool J] and people like that, that’s what they were doing…When I called and I got in touch with the guy who did it for me, I was recommended because current football players and current boxers go to him.”
Back when Flex shared his procedure, one of the social media users to join in on clowning the DJ was rapper LL Cool J. “I’m doing everything in my power right now not to go in on homie? Lipo on IG? LOL,” he tweeted, before realizing he couldn’t hold back on his opportunity. “Yo@funkflex you let him hit you with the turkey thermometer on social media!!!!!” he wrote alongside several laughing emojis. “I still love u B!!”
