Film & Television star Gabrielle Union and NBA Vet Dwyane Wade have been working really hard in the recent years of their career to center their branding on family and their children. In light of their daughter Zaya Wade coming out as trans, the pair have been very transparent about their parenting and are always looking to share advice and tips with other. Now they are looking to turn that into a new business venture with a skincare line for kids of color called Proudly.
The playful couple are now ashamed of showing off their love and a little skin. Back in January for his 39th birthday the pair posted some sexy snaps on their social media. Union was all smiles as she stood in front of her husband who was completely naked behind her and showing off his toned physique. “Birthday Behavior” he wrote in the caption. “39 is already looking up”. The photo amassed over 1 million likes.
Their daughter has become an icon for young trans youth in America, thanks in large part to her parents support. She’s become so visible that it scored her an interview Michelle Obama. “I’m meeting an idol. I’m literally meeting an idol,” Zaya said in a clip of their conversation on Instagram. “[I’ve been] preparing for this moment for so long.”
She continued “What advice do you have for teens who want to be themselves and thrive like you have and currently are?” Asked Zaya. Obama then responded, “Well, like you have and currently are.”
Their last joint venture was for kids as well. While promoting their children’s book Shady Baby last month they opened up to fans about their marriage. Wade said “In relationships, we come in and try to change people to the way we want them to be… And I started taking a different approach in the relationship.” He goes on to stress how having a non-traditional marriage has made all the difference or them.
In regards to their new joint project Proudly, the couple released a statement saying “As we continue to work on new endeavors together, our goal is to always center our work around being the change we want to see while championing diversity, equity and inclusion. With Proudly, we’re proud to have a range of products that caters to the unique skin care needs of children of color that are so often overlooked in the mass market.”
Via her instagram Gabrielle also said “Today @dwyanewade and I are announcing our newest baby: PROUDLY. @theproudlyco is an everyday baby care line created specifically for melanated skin tones. We are truly diverse and representative and couldn’t be prouder about it. 🙏🏾 #proudly”
