Conservative politicians seem to have their priorities mixed up lately as they have been launching personal attacks on social media directed to rappers, outside of their normal bashing of just lyrical content. With election season upon us, the political spokespeople have ramped up their opinions even harder, and Nicki Minaj is the latest to feel the wrath, during a time that should be celebrated.
Over the summer the world was sent into a frenzy when Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion released their single “WAP”, that has lived at the top of the charts since its release. Although the song and its accompanying racy visual received widespread critical acclaim, it was the subject of massive scrutiny from conservative commentators. The “backlash” led Cardi to tweet “I can’t believe conservatives soo mad about WAP”.

Megan Thee Stallion also had something to say when asked about it in her recent TIME interview. “When I saw all of the politicians in an uproar about mine and Cardi’s ‘WAP’, I was just really taken aback,” she said. “Like why is this your focus right now? If you have an issue with what I’m saying don’t listen to it.”
“Queen” rapper Nicki Minaj is now receiving attacks from conservative politicians as well, and for very unlikely reasons. Although an official announcement wasn’t made from the couple, it’s been reported and confirmed that the “Megatron” rapper welcomed her first child with her husband Kenneth Petty. The 37-year old revealed she was pregnant back in July with a series of photos uploaded on social media. “Love. Marriage. Baby carriage. Overflowing with excitement & gratitude. Thank you all for the well wishes,” she said at the time.
Minaj has been vocal about wanting to start a family in the past, particularly on an episode of Queen Radio, where she said in 2019 “I think I have what I was striving for, just happiness. It was so hard to get to a happy place. Now that I’m there I don’t want to compromise that for anyone or anything.”
Now with the news of the baby’s birth, although gender nor name has been revealed, the new mom is certainly celebrating this “moment 4 life”. In a weird spin, however, some GOP politicians have some opinions they don’t want to hold to themselves.
Dean Browning, a former Lehigh County, PA commissioner based on his bio, came on to Twitter to say on her birth: “Nicki Minaj has given birth to a child today. If it is a girl, I pray it does not turn out like her mother. If it is a boy, I pray it does not turn out like his father. Bless that child. They will need a lot of moral guidance.” Former Congressional Candidate DeAnna Lorraine also tweeted “Nicki Minaj just had a child. Poor Kid,” before deleting it due to being slammed for the insensitive nature.

Someone should’ve warned these politicians before talking about Nicki. The Barbz got them deleting tweets 🤣 pic.twitter.com/SCxUtq9Xjb— Moesha Angelou (@IsDreSerious) October 1, 2020
Lorraine also issued another insensitive tweet amidst the news of Chrissy Teigen’s recent miscarriage in response to Planned Parenthood’s well wishes toward the model. “That’s sweet. Now do the million babies that you yourselves kill every year,” she said.
