Chances are you might not remember the name Yung Berg. The early aughts saw the rapper releasing such hits as “Sexy Lady” and becoming infamous for getting his chain stolen in Detroit. The latter half of the 2000’s however saw him transformed into a producer of note named Hitmaka. Now, he’s sharing a story about a former collaborator that’s got tongues wagging.
There’s a slightly increased chance that readers may have heard another song that Yung Berg was responsible for – “Sexy Can I.” The Ray J single featuring Berg was Berg’s first single from his debut album Look What You Made Me and was also included on Ray J’s All I Feel, serving as a single from his album. It spent 3 months on the Billboard Top 10 and was also both rapper’s first Top 5 single on the Billboard Hot 100.
With his close association with Ray J over the years, Hitmaka — as he is now known – has some insight into friend Ray J’s dalliances with iconic singer Whitney Houston, which the two largely kept under wraps. Apparently, Yung Berg spent time with the odd couple around the recording of “Sexy Can I,” though he might want to be careful about what he says.

Comedian Chris Rock knows the wrath that comes from speaking ill of Whitney Houston. Using a meme of Houston wearing sunglasses and looking stone faced in a now-deleted post, Chris Rock’s posted a meme captioned, “me sitting in a meeting that could have been an email. Hurry up I got crack to smoke.”
Brown, coming across the post, wrote “During this time of women empowerment you choose to use your time to try and humiliate our QUEEN!!! I thought you was a friend of the family.”
But before that, the former New Edition singer, one of R&B’s “bad boys,” told Rock exactly what he thought of his comment. “When I see you on site [sic] I am going to smack every tooth out of your mouth.”
Hitmaka may not catch the fade to that extent from the senior Brown but he’s definitely had enough experiences of his own in the industry to feel safe about speaking up on situations he’s actually be in himself, as opposed to posting memes that might be insensitive.
Sitting down with The Drink Champs podcast earlier this month, Hitmaka recalled a story in which he got to meet the real Whitney Houston while she was hanging around the younger Ray J and his crowd – and how it became much more awkward later in the evening.
“We in Atlanta, we’re staying at this hotel,” he shared. “We have a show at Compound Nightclub. So I go get into the car with Ray and Whitney Houston is in the car with us. Whitney was a Gangsta though, she was a real [N-word] … Me and Whitney throwing back patron, she chain-smoking squares. It was a vibe.”
“I go in the room, Whitney Houston taking her pants off. I walk in the room, like she getting naked in Ray J’s room and she like, ‘Get out of here, Yung Berg!’ And I’m like, ‘Oh my God, I’m sorry’ and I ran out of the room,” he said.
