Actress Elise Neal is recognizable on TV, having starred in a number of iconic black sitcoms like The Hughleys and All of Us, both which aired on the UPN network back when it was an active brand. All of Us was produced by Will and Jada Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment and Neal was asked about her time on the set of the show – which she notoriously left early.
Though Will and Jada’s marriage wasn’t specifically up for discussion, but Viral Hip Hop News asked her about her time on the show and if she had experienced any encounters on the show that could shed light on the couple’s current public scandal. It also comes at a time when anyone who has ever been in the orbit of the Smiths is being asked to weigh in on their situation.
“I wasn’t happy on that set because people treated me in a way that I could tell that they were unhappy,” said Neal of her time on the UPN show. “If they decide that they’re going to come together and that’s the type of marriage that they want and they’re okay with that, we are not able to judge that. What I am going to judge is if I come to work for people and they bring that unhappiness on others, like myself. I felt that and received that on that set.”
Though All of Us aired from 2003 to 2007, it ended up moving to The CW network when UPN was folded. Neal ended up leaving the set a year before the show it was canceled, which was well publicized. Neal said ultimately that part of the reason was she just wasn’t happy. “…a lot of people know that I exited that set early. I miss the money but I do not miss being unhappy. I was not happy because they were not happy.”
