If you thought that celebrities in 2021 could not get any weirder with the information they choose to reveal, think again. In what seems to now be a race in “who can identify their bad hygienic practices”, more are joining the conversation to share that they don’t take showers, including Ice-T’s wife, Coco Austin.
The debates seemingly started back in July when actors Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis revealed on the Armchair Expert podcast, heralded by Dax Shepherd, that they are not keen on bathing daily… or frequently.
The reason for not bathing? They believe that you are ridding yourself of the body’s natural oils. I don’t wash my body with soap every day,” said Mila Kunis. “But I wash pits and t*ts and h*les and soles.” Meanwhile, husband Ashton Kutcher also chimed in saying, “I wash my armpits and my crotch daily, and nothing else ever. I got a bar of Lever 2000 that just delivers every time. Nothing else.”
Yikes. Well then… And no, we are not being Punk’d.
Kunis’s habit of not taking frequent showers dates back to her childhood. According to the actress, “I didn’t have hot water growing up as a child, so I didn’t shower very much anyway.” This practice proved to continue as she grew older, and now, she implements it with their children. “When I had children I also didn’t wash them every day. I wasn’t the parent that bathed my newborns—ever,” Kunis admitted.
Kutcher, who also admits along with Shephard that they don’t necessarily care for cleanliness when it comes to their children, proclaimed, “Here’s the thing—if you can see the dirt on ’em, clean ’em. Otherwise, there’s no point.”

Well, actress Kristin Bell then appeared along with Shephard on The View to double down on the fact that they are not fans of bathing. “I’m a big fan of waiting for the stink. Once you catch a whiff, that’s biology’s way of letting you know you need to clean it up,” said Bell.
“There’s a red flag” she added, “Because honestly, it’s just bacteria. And once you get the bacteria, you gotta be like, ‘Get in the tub or the shower.'”
Actor Jake Gyllenhaal would also include himself in the conversation. While during an interview with Vanity Fair, the actor revealed that bathing often does not suit him either. He does, however, take special care of his teeth.
“More and more I find bathing to be less necessary, at times,” admitted the Spider-Man: Far From Home actor. “I do believe because Elvis Costello is wonderful, that good manners and bad breath get you nowhere. So I do [brush my teeth].”
Gyllenhaal also explained that his reason for not bathing as often as many deem normal is due to what he feels is health reasons. “I do also think that there’s a whole world of not bathing that is also really helpful for skin maintenance, and we naturally clean ourselves,” he said.
The latest celebrity to share this unwanted bit of information with the world is Coco Austin. Austin, who is not shy of revealing personal information such as her choice to continue to breastfeed her daughter at 5-years-old, shared with E! News’ Daily Pop that she holds the same beliefs as those mentioned before.
“Well, I don’t shower every day,” offered Coco. “I do what’s needed. My hair—I wash my hair every four days. Yeah, but when I’m feeling icky, I’ll get in the shower. Whether that’s every day, that may be, but that could be every three days. I kinda keep myself clean, though. Like, if I feel like my pits smell or something, I just take some washcloths and some soap to it. I might not have to clean my whole body.”
Not everybody agrees with their stance, however, as many notable figures such as Cardi B and Dwayne Johnson beg to differ. “Wassup with people saying they don’t shower? It’s giving itchy,” questioned Cardi B. The Rock also shared that he is a frequent bather.
Nope, I’m the opposite of a ‘not washing themselves’ celeb,” wrote Johnson on Twitter. “Shower (cold) when I roll outta bed to get my day rollin’. Shower (warm) after my workout before work. Shower (hot) after I get home from work. Face wash, body wash, exfoliate and I sing (off key) in the shower.”
