The topic of breastfeeding amongst mothers and their children has been one for the books as opinions vary on how appropriate it is for others. The outcome and answer is different in many cases, but for Coco Austin, wife of rapper/actor Ice-T, it may be extremely different. However, she is sticking by her decision as she has just revealed that she is still breastfeeding her daughter after 5 years.
A report on women nursing their young toddlers by Better Health shows that the decision to wean their children off of breastfeeding is entirely up to the mother. “The World Health Organization recommends that all babies be exclusively breastfed for six months, then gradually introduced to appropriate family foods after six months while continuing to breastfeed for two years or beyond,” the report states.
For Coco, she hasn’t decided to wean her daughter. Chanel Nicole, off of breastfeeding as of yet. As a matter of fact, last year when Chanel was 4-years old Coco shared to her social media following that she was still nursing her daughter with a pic posted to the gram showing the action. “At a time when the world feels like its coming to an end.. suck up as much love as you can,” she wrote. “I know the moms out there will appreciate this pic! Ive been getting alot of props in the breasfeeding community and get tons of emails from woman/moms appreciating me bringing light to the subject .. I write a baby blog about my journey with Chanel and soon I will write about what it’s like to continue boob time with a 4 year old.”
Sharing her resaoning for continuing the process and saying that it’s “comforting”, she adds, ” I get tons and tons of requests that want me to speak on it! At this point in nursing its just for comfort and believe me the girl loves meat so its not like she isnt eating real food…😁Thank you to all that understand my view.. i see most of you are so eager to side with me and I too root for you in your journey as well.. Us moms are connected.”
While she shared that she had been getting support from other moms, a lot of social media users criticized her choices for breastfeeding a child at a more developed age. “As a parent you have to create borders to teach your child no . If she loves your milk breast pump and serve it but at this point it’s sickening for the child. She’s going to want titties in her mouth as an adult,” one user commented. Another shared, “There’s nothing wrong with breast feeding a child, but up to the age of 5 years old?? Her daughter will be very dependent and won’t develop the skills she needs to become a self spoken, independent little girl.”
Chanel is now five, and Coco recently revealed to US Weekly that she is still breastfeeding her daughter. “Chanel still likes my boobs,” said Austin. “It’s a big bonding moment for a mother and your child… Why take that away from her? … If she doesn’t want it, all right, that’s where you stop it. But I’m not just going to say no.”

I see nothing wrong with Coco breastfeeding her child. I would do the same with my sons if I could https://t.co/GvUj5UP6YO

Breastfeeding up to 6 months is normal. Up to 1 year is iffy.Anything older starts 2 get creepy. Besides the twisted sexual overtones of this Coco scenario, someone should consider what regular ingestions of silicone might do to this poor child’s brain.
