Jeannie Mai became Mrs. Jay Wayne Jenkins when she wed rapper Young Jeezy this past March. The picture perfect pair shared shots from the beautiful wedding via social media for all to see and join in their celebration. Eagle eyed fans quickly noted that some key people were missing from Jeannie’s wedding, her REAL co-hosts. Fans realized that Loni Love, Adrienne Bailon and Garcelle Beauvais were all absent from the affairs. Many took to social media to question why they were absent.
The couple have shared a pretty public courtship. Rumors began to surface of the two spending time and getting close, which were only heightening when reality star Malika Haqq posted a picture of the two on what appeared to be a date. Because of the chatter and true to the show’s name, her co-hosts took the opportunity to instigate the rumor, putting Mai in the spotlight.
Addressing her then “friend”, the talk show host replied, “Jeezy and I hang out. He’s very special to me, so we don’t have a label to define what it is we’re doing. We’re just having a good time together,” she said at the time. “Real fam, you know I always keep it a little too real at this table. I promise you that when there is that one special boo, you will be the first to know from me.”
The two finally became comfortable with making their relationship official shortly after that episode, walking the red carpet together at Jeezy’s SnoBall Gala in Atlanta. Mai, who had been married to Freddy Harteis for 10 years, announced her engagement to Jeezy not too long afterwards. “We both went through enough in our life to connect on the understanding that love should feel safe, honest, and pure,” Mai said to People Magazine. “Immediately that was a magnetic attraction. We are very attracted to each other’s passions to serve. So because we have a mutual joy of having purpose, we’re going to find a way to do that together.”
The couple finally wed in a COVID safe ceremony this past March that forced them to have a small guest list. Unfortunately this meant her Co-hosts could not attend. Mai claims to have called the girls well before the wedding to let them know.
“So we had a very COVID-safe wedding in our home. Which means, I mean…literally just a couple…there were two tables in our living room of our closest, closest family and friends. People I grew up with. People that had to know me and [Jeezy],” Mai said. “Those were the two rules.”
“So, no. I didn’t invite the ladies. But, I did call them all ahead of time to let them know that we were doing this. They were actually the first to know that we were having a secret ceremony, and they kept their secret. So, when we have the wedding later on. Hopefully, things will change then because COVID now, anything can happen.”
While her explaination alluded to their being no beef, she did like a comment from a fan that pointed out that maybe the ladies are not as close as they once were and its possible that the way they’ve treated Mai over the years affected her decision to invite them.
