Jeezy, who dropped the “Young” portion of his namesake sometime ago, never seems to fall too far from the spotlight. Since his chart-topping debut album, Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation, 15 years ago, the Atlanta trap-rapper has achieved an enviable level of success with 9 subsequent releases and budding acting career.
After tens of millions of views of his Verzuz TV battle with bitter rival Gucci Mane and the freshly dropped 10thstudio album, The Recession 2, Jay Wayne Jenkins’ star might be burning brighter than ever.
However, his shine would not be without tarnish. Mahlet “Mahi” Gebremehdin, ex-fianceé and mother of his 6-year-old daughter, Amra Nor, alleged that the “Go Getta” recording artist failed to make good on a court-ordered $30,000 payment designated for a new automobile.
Gebremehdin filed a motion for contempt in what she claims is an deliberate attempt to avoid following through on the arrangement stipulated by a child support and custody agreement completed in March earlier this year. According to the agreement documents, Jeezy rakes in $135,000 per month and is on the hook for: $7,500 for child support, $30,000 in annual tuition, life and medical insurances- plus the $30K for a new ride.
When Jeezy got wind of his ex’s legal maneuvers, he responded, labeling them as a “vindictive and malevolent” response made in bitterness upon hearing of his engagement to The Real talk show host, Jeannie Mai.
Mai called Jeezy “the love of my life” and flaunted the $125,000 engagement ring he gave her along with a new Range Rover with name-engraved headrests in a series of videos and Instagram posts. During one of her performances as a contestant on Dancing With the Stars, Mai declared her affection for Jenkins. “I specifically chose this dance because J is the love of my life and honestly when we met, I pictured the beginning of this. Because when you watch it, if you don’t have somebody, you think about that somebody. And the minute I met J, I couldn’t wait to grow old with him, happily ever after. So this is for you, baby,” she said.
Fans have noticed that Jeannie Mai and Jeezy’s relationship went public a mere days after his prior engagement to Mahi wrapped up, leading many to assume he maintained a romance with the two women simultaneously. An unnamed friend of Mahi’s told AceShowBiz, “Jeezy broke up with [Mahi], and a couple of weeks later that hoe is talking about how ‘special’ Jeezy is to her…When did he become ‘special’ to that b*tch? Was it while he was engaged?”
Jeezy also mentioned that Gebremehdin threatened his life and voiced concerns for her mental stability.
Mahi stated that Jeezy’s financial status has been affected by the ongoing pandemic and requested detail about the automobile transaction: a purchase for a 2020 Jeep Wrangler, which retail at anywhere from $44,000 to $63,000 depending on location and options. Mahi agreed to personally finance any amount over the previously stipulated $30,000 and reportedly made it possible so that the rapper could issue payment directly to the dealer.
Her lawyers now state the $30,000 payment has been received.
