Looks like there will be no wedding bells in the future for Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez. The latino power couple have called it quits after 2 years of engagement. They made the announcement today, which comes one month following cheating speculation of the MLB star with Southern Charm’s Madison LeCroy.
Lopez is unfortunately no stranger to failed relationships. Her dating history is as well documented as her films and music.
David Cruz was Lopez’ high school sweetheart and accompanied her throughout the first decade of her career before things fizzled out. The two are reportedly still good friends.
A brief fling with Wesley Snipes in the early 90’s was followed by her first marriage to Cuban waiter Ojani Noa. The pair were only together for a year before they divorced.
Most famously she was linked to Diddy, then known as Puff Daddy. That was followed by her second marriage to backup dancer/choreographer Cris Judd. Ben Affleck followed and the pair became a paparazzi goldmine. THis preceded her third marriage to Marc Anthony, before a second fling with a choreographer, this time TikTok star Casper Smart.
A-Rod and J.Lo seemed like an ideal pairing. The attractive couple are both powerhouses in their respective fields and latino pop culture staples. They seemed to be in similar places in life, so many thought they’d be able to relate and sort through the business that comes with being world famous celebrities.
Speaking on their plans to wed last year, Lopez told Elle “We postponed the wedding twice. We had planned what we really, really wanted to do, [but] I don’t know if we’ll be able to re-create that,” the “In the Morning” singer said. “We canceled it, and since then we haven’t really talked about it. There’s no rush. We want to do it right when we can do it.”
Lopez and Rodriguez initial got engaged in the Bahamas in March 2019, and have reportedly spent much of the pandemic at home with their blended family. Lopez has 13-year-old twins Maximilian “Max” David and Emme Maribel with singer Marc Anthony and the Rodriguez has daughters Ella, 12, and Natasha, 16, with ex-wife Cynthia Scurtis.
“This has been a long time coming,” a source close to the family told People magazine. “They are tied in their business worlds so it’s not a cut and dry break up. It’s taken a while for them to even think about untangling it all.”
