Kandi Burruss is a self made woman with several incredible accolades to her name. However not even her biggest hits can eclipse the visibility she’s gained from her time on Real Housewives of Atlanta. The show has helped make Kandi her own brand outside of Xscape and songwriting, leading to roles in film, broadway, and several other lucrative endeavors. Fans of the show might be shocked to know that even with all that, she might be ready to finally step away.
As many know, Kandi Burruss got her start in Jermaine Dupri’s 90’s girl group Xscape with fellow group member and reality star Tameka “Tiny” Harris. As part of the group she went on to score a series of hit singles including “Just Kickin’ It”, “Understanding” and “Little Secret”. While solo stardom began to call her name, it was her songwriting that truly took off as Kandi helped pen such megahits as “No Scrubs” and “Bills Bills Bills” for fellow girlgroups TLC and Destiny’s Child.
While her success was mostly behind the scenes, it was Real Housewives that shot Kandi back into the spotlight. Burruss has starred in the Bravo reality television series The Real Housewives of Atlanta since its second-season premiered on July 30, 2009. She has appeared in five Real Housewives spinoff and companion series as of 2020, beginning with 2012’s The Kandi Factory. She is currently playing a recurring role as Roselyn Perry in the third season of the Showtime drama series The Chi and won the third season of the Fox competition series The Masked Singer.
With all of these great opportunities coming as a result of RHOA, one would think she’d ride the show till the wheels fall off. However she wouldn’t be the first star to walk away from the show. Nene Leakes made a grand exit last year after negotiations between herself and Bravo broke down. “I have made the very hard and difficult decision to not be a part of Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 13,” the star said on YouTube. “It wasn’t an easy decision for me… It was hard.”
Despite their rocky relationship, Kandi did share her thoughts on Nene walking away. “I think, in negotiations, sometimes we get what we want, and sometimes we don’t get what we want,” she added. “Sometimes if we don’t get what we want, we have to make the decision on if we want to part ways. I think she made that decision for herself.”
Well now its Kandi who is considering leaving. Although she hasn’t made up her mind yet, she recently told Access Hollywood that the thought of walking away is always close in her mind. “I don’t know, honestly. It’s a constant change of cast. It’s a constant change of where people are in their lives. I don’t know is really my answer. I’m always contemplating when is my time to make a move. It’s mutual choice. It’s the choice of the person if you want to stay but also it’s the choice of the network if they want you to stay.”
What makes this news even more interesting – it’s rumored Phaedra Parks could make a return to the Atlanta Housewives franchise season 14.
Check out some of the fan reactions:
Lol kandi don’t do all of this. She has a right to be mad if they bring ole girl back but this “I might leave” low key ultimatum mess is annoying. Just announce you’re leaving or don’t bring it up pic.twitter.com/HcJyiVCnb0

If they get rid of Kandi and bring back Phaedra the show might actually be worth watching again. Until then I’ll stick to Potomac https://t.co/IiDEUEleqE
