Rapper King Von was one of the many hip-hop hopefuls to lose their lives too early. Taken at the age of 26, many were upset and heartbroken than his start was snuffed out so early. The Chicago native had a history of being connected to gang violence. Its been recently revealed that history may actually tie him to taking the life of another individual.
King Von was born Dayvon Daquan Bennett on August 9, 1994 and was an American rapper and songwriter from Chicago, Illinois. He was signed to fellow rapper Lil Durk’s record label, Only the Family and Empire Distribution. He released a string of singles prior to his passing, most notably “Crazy Story” on December 6, 2018. First time I heard about King Von was during the Gakirah Barnes special, and he was not convincing me that he actually liked that girl.— …bitch. (@lipstickley) July 12, 2021
Von had a history of legal issues stemming back to his teens. He was reportedly locked up at 16 for unlawful possession of a firearm. On July 24, 2014 Von was taken into custody again in connection with a incident in May of 2014 that resulting in the passing of Malcolm Stuckey and the injury of two other men. Charges were eventually dropped after witnesses failed to testify.
On November 6, 2020 at around 2:15 am, Von was involved in an fight with fellow rapper Quando Rondo. The incident quickly escalated resulted in 4 peoples lives being taken, including Von. Three others were injured. The suspect was identified as Lul Timm.
Its been less than a year since Von’s passing, and today disturbing news can come forward naming him as the suspect in passing of another individual. A young woman named Gakirah “K.I.” Barnes life was taken in 2014, reportedly sprayed 9 times by an unidentified assailant. She was 17 at the time of her passing. Barnes was notorious in Chicago for her reputation, reportedly taking the lives of over a dozen people herself.
I’m gonna forever be mind boggled that Gakirah Barnes (K.i) *allegedly* committed 20 murders before she was gunned down at age 17. That’s a lot of bodies yo…— Kondwani Fidel🌹 (@KondwaniFidel) July 12, 2021
At the time its reported that witness had identified Von as the individual responsible, but lack of evidence could not pin him to the crime so charges were not filed. More strange is that Von had tweeted at Barnes several times, even confessing to wanting her.
In documents released today, CPD detailed the information from the evening of Barnes passing, revealing the individual was wearing a Grey Hoodie and Blue Jeans.
