Lauryn Hill’s daughter Selah Marley has taken to the Internet to share some thoughts on her superstar mother and famous family father and people are shocked by some of the allegations and statements that she mad. The now 22-year old is coming into her own as an adult and has taken to reminiscing about her life and the Internet is talking about what she’s saying about her parents.
Born in 1998 to parents Lauryn Hill and Rohan Marley, son of Bob Marley and former football player, Selah has been in the press over the years as she’s come into her own as a celebrity child. While she overall seems to keep out of the press mostly, there’s been a few appearances of hers that signaled to the world that she was making her entrance in some ways onto the main stage.
Her mother Lauryn Hill has had her own share of thoughts and issues over the years post her “Miseducation” heydays. Lauryn’s become synonymous with being late, as she over the years has developed a reputation for appearing hours later after the start time of her concerts. After her blockbuster debut album, Hill went through a series of ups and downs that seemed to stymie her career. Over the past few years however, she’s returned to the stage and touring and has seemingly settled into the legacy artist that she is.
Selah father, Rohan Marley, is indeed one of the sons of musical legend Bob Marley. Having met Lauryn Hill in 1996, the pair had 5 children together despite the fact that they largely lived apart most of their relationship. Selah is the second born of the five and though her parents relationship finally came to an end in 2009, it seems as if her father’s been largely absent, according to her latest Instagram Live post.
In 2011, Hill spoke briefly about her relationship to Selah’s father Rohan to Rolling Stone when she had another baby – that wasn’t Rohan’s. She told the magazine that her and Marley “have a long and complex history about which many inaccuracies have been reported since the beginning. To speculate without the facts can only cause people to form wrong conclusions. We both value privacy and for that reason on defend and preserve our right to it.”
It’s Selah’s speaking up on social media that is now leading to some cold hard facts that are no longer speculation, as the offspring of the celebrities is now sharing her story, stepping out of trauma and into her healing.
While reflecting upon instances in her own relationship, Selah seems to have come to the realization that she’s as toxic in her own relationship as she’s seen her mother Lauryn be with her own father Rohan. She also seems to realize that the physical absence of her father is partially to blame, along with other thoughts on her relationship with her mother.
Selah, amongst other things, called Hill a “MF’er” in the video, alluding to the fact that their relationship and her mother’s actions over the years are the reason that she was traumatized as a child. She also shared that her mother and father “hated” each other and how Selah told her mother once that she should have “aborted” her.
Throughout the video, Selah also seems to long after her father repeatedly while blaming him for not being there. Hill and Marley’s relationship is famous for being largely apart and now we’re seeing the fallout from one of their oldest children and how it has affected them as adults.
