Lil Nas X continues to troll fans and spectators in the aftermath of his “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” video and its massive backlash. The young pop star has not been shine about the themes in the video and has had some pretty hilarious comebacks to people trying to dim his joy in the wake of his second #1 single on billboard hot 100.
Nas first attempt at turning the hit song into merch didn’t do so well. The sneaker collaboration he did with fashion house MSCHF, titled Satan Shoe by social media, has to be pulled due to a pending lawsuit from Nike who did not authorize the custom kick. The black Nike AirMax were customized by MSCHF and featured a handful of red details including embroidered red stitching, red soles and a drop of real human blood. The sneaker collaboration sold out in minutes at the time it was announced.
People were immediately upset, include those in Christian communities, and took to internet to express their distaste. Many felt the satanic inspired footwear was too much, especially for a pop star whose biggest hit was due to its popularity with children. Lil Nas X took to his Youtube channel to seemingly apology, instead forcing people to watch the final scene again when his apology cuts out and goes straight to his music video.
Nike, who were not involved in the making of the shoe, has decided to sue the pop star and company responsible to designing them.
Well this time around Lil Nas X, born Montero Lamar Hill, has partnered up with creative production company Pizzaslime to create three different t-shirts, each priced at $33 dollars, that seemingly poke fun at the people who were upset over the music video, the song and the “satan shoe”.
One of the shirts says in large white font,“I [Heart] Jesus” and is followed by smaller print that reads,“and that one part in the ‘Montero’ music video by Lil Nas X when he gets nasty with the devil because it was a cool form of self-expression and art.”
The second shirt reads “I watched the ‘Montero’ video by Lil Nas X and all I got was this lousy shirt and now I’m also gay and love Satan.”
