“The past is never where you think you left it.” This quote from Pulitzer Prize-winning American writer and journalist Katherine Anne Porter, couldn’t ring more true for LisaRaye McCoy after her recent comments regarding Will Smith, Jada Pinkett-Smith, and August Alsina’s “Entanglement” issues. Fans have come together to remind LisaRaye of her past statements and label her a hypocrite.
If you can recall, last year, an incident between Nicole Murphy, ex-wife to actor Eddie Murphy, and film director Antoine Fuqua, who is also husband to actress Lela Rochon occurred. The two were photographed in more than one photo, kissing. Her in a bathing suit and him with a towel covering his waist, these photos sent social media and news publications into a frenzy with speculations of infidelity, and her being labeled a homewrecker.
Murphy issued a statement calling it a “family-type kiss” while issuing an apology to Lela Rochon, claiming she didn’t know that Fuqua was still married.
LisaRaye happened to insert herself into the story, by alleging that she has experienced something to the same effect of Rochon when dealing with Nicole Murphy. “Gurl @nikimurphy you went after @iamlelarochon husband too?…smh So wrong….again!!!” the actress commented under an article in reference to the story, insinuating that her marriage was rocked with the same infidelity claims.
According to a source that is close to Murphy, the allegations are not true. “It’s not true. She’s [LisaRaye’s] been saying that for years,” the source said. “There’s no truth to that.” TMZ caught up with the actress after leaving a lunch, and she doubled down on her claims, confirming that Nicole Murphy messed around with her then-husband, Michael Misick.
“Here’s the thing,” she tells the reporter passionately, “we’ve all done something that we regret, we’ve all made mistakes and we all have to learn from that. But when you start doing it and being messy enough to do it amongst family, how does a family kiss turn into a “I’m sorry” apology, like what do you mean? You didn’t know that she was married? we all know that she was married. And that was 20 years, that’s history. You don’t do that amongst friends, because there’s no loyalty.”
When news of August and Jada’s “entanglement,” as she aptly labeled it, resurfaced, LisaRaye chose to inject her opinion once again, this time on Claudia Jordan’s talk show “Out Loud” on Fox Soul. “I think and I feel that he [Alsina] was a baby,” she said. “Now I’m all for if you want to date somebody younger, go for it. But because of his circumstance and why in which he came to her, wounded and hurt, and in her lap – how in the hell did he get from off her lap, and then you [Smith] got onto the d—? I don’t understand.”
She then appeared on Garcelle Beauvais’s podcast “Going To Bed” where, when asked who she would want in her life and stressing she doesn’t have to reveal names, she was quick to add “I can tell you right now. Will Smith.” Upon hearing that Garcelle said, “Girl, you can’t pick him, he is married,” to which LisaRaye responded, “Why come I can’t? We can have an entanglement.” She went on to later backtrack, saying she simply meant that his qualities are positively one thing she appears for when searching for a mate.
Well, social media is having none of it. Quick to identify her hypocritical statements, social media erupted with comments directed towards her. “Dolla Dolla bill come get her! Not Lisa Raye trying to flirt with Will Smith after keeping Nicole Murphy’s name in her mouth,” commented one user. Another follower mentioned: ‘This so disrespectful. Ironic too Especially since she was so mad her man had a “entanglement” his godd*mn self.” One more commented, “Funny or not that’s a married man sis cease,” in attempts to remind her of the position she alleges she was once in.
