Former reality star Tommie Lee, of Love and Hip-Hop: Atlanta fame, has seemingly seemed to keep herself out of the press since leaving the hit show. She’s had a few flareups since then that mostly involve her family, which also took center stage during taping of the show. Away from the cameras, it seems the family drama is still taking place and it’s spilling into public — again.
Tommie’s exit from Love and Hip-Hop: Atlanta seemed to be contentious, much like her run on the show. While she was an active cast member, the rapper was a crowd favorite, despite the bevy of issues that seemed to cloud her career and life at the time. She’d made a joke out of the many times she’d gone to jail for various things, even reporting for time during the show’s taping.
Tommie Lee sat down with the hosts of daytime talk show The Real to discuss her time on the show and why she left last August, detailing how a death of someone close to her that was joining the show alongside her caused her to reassess her participation.
“I lost someone that they were interviewing and basically he was killed. I didn’t know that you were supposed to get flowers or stuff like that when somebody passed because it’s not my son. It’s not my father, you know what I’m saying? But Fashion Nova and PrettyLittleThing, they sent me flowers when I came home. And the people that knew him and who were interviewing him and wanted him to be lined up to be there, they didn’t do that stuff. It kinda made me look at things kinda different.”
She also shared that her mother, unlike her, wasn’t built for reality TV stardom and it strained their relationship even further. It seems as if her mother also entered a depression, unable to deal with all the negative feedback she received. Lee says she know she has a “thick skin,” but ultimately it was another reason to end her participation in the franchise.
It seems now that the family issues that America got a glimpse into while Lee was on the show had still been bubbling under the surface and once again, Lee and her daughters are in the hot seat.
Earlier this year, Lee’s daughter Samaria revealed to her social media channels that she was pregnant, at 16, and would be keeping the child. “I made my choice to keep my gift from god and live not caring about what anybody else think i am beyond grateful and happy for the people who stuck around to let me know they got me cause only god know it take a village to raise one child!”
Apparently however, the soon to be 35-year-old grandmother Tommie Lee hasn’t been happy about her daughter’s pregnancy – despite the fact that she was pregnant at 17 with Samaria. Samaria has taken to Instagram to call out her mother Lee, and also aunt, for trying to trick her into abandoning her pregnancy early.
“I’ve been staying cool calm and collected but my aunt and mother got me to fly to LA thinking my mother was dying only to try and be forced to have an abortion! After I didn’t want it, I was kicked out of the house and forced to find my own way home!!” Samaria took to her Instagram Stories and laid out a tale of her mother Lee not having even checked on her once during her pregnancy.
To add insult to injury, apparently the aunt in question told Samaria that she’d gotten rid of her own child, only for Tommie Lee to show up on social media, at the hospital with Samaria’s aunt to deliver her baby – that they told Samaria was no longer going to happen.
