There are some people that are destined to get the biopic treatment in one form or another. Ask some of those that are privileged to have their lives depicted who they would like to portray them, some answers may be shocking. Olympic champion Simone Biles is definitely a history-making individual who is an absolute contender for a biopic, but leave it to her, her actress of choice to play her is quite the unconventional choice… for her.
“Hands down, Zendaya man, Zendaya.” That was the response that Biles gave during an interview with Access Hollywood host Scott Evans, which threw even him for a loop.
You see, while both beautiful young women, the contrasts between the two are evident. Biles stands at 4’8” while her complexion is a darker hue than her desired actress of choice. Zendaya is much taller, and a lighter complexion. None of that seems to block Simone’s vision of Zendaya portraying her on the big screen.
“But that’s fine,” Biles said unbothered. “Everyone says I look taller on tv anyways. I want Zendaya to play me, I’m sorry.”
While she has high hopes, Twitter begged to differ as many were left scratching their heads. Many of her supporters began to question her with reactions like, “Please tell me that Simone biles didn’t actually say that she wants zendaya to play her in a film. Girl wot u sayin?”
“Simone Biles dark as medium roast coffee and want Zendaya to play her in the movie?” commented another.

Other celebrities who have had thoughts of who should depict them that seemed unconventional include those like Aretha Franklin, who was once adamant that Halle Berry would play the role.
“I would’ve liked Halle Berry to portray the older Aretha in the upcoming biopic of my life… She was my first choice,” said Franklin to Wendy Williams, “everything’s subject to negotiation, and she shouldn’t underestimate her own talent. There are a number of other leading ladies out there that can definitely handle the role. I never expected Halle to sing. She’s an actress, not a singer. Many actors have portrayed vocalists by lip-synching to the artists’ original recordings.”

The 2009 biopic Notorious centered around the life of the late Notorious B.I.G. showed Lil’ Kim, played by singer/actress Naturi Naughton. While she was lauded for her performance, the rapper was notoriously none too happy.
She recently revealed during an interview for season two of BET’s “American Gangster: Trap Queens” who she would like to play her, if she doesn’t play the role herself.
“It can only be a girl that’s from the hood that I’m from. I love Teyana [Taylor],” shared Lil’ Kim, “she’s my only other thought. There’s nobody else in the industry at all but Teyana. But, even before Teyana — I love Teyana, but she’s from Harlem – before Teyana, I would love to give some little girls from Brooklyn a chance so I can connect. Really connect.”
Meanwhile, Teyana Taylor is slated to play the role of Dionne Warwick in her upcoming biopic.
