Meek Mill is back in the news today, after dominating headlines earlier this week for nearly coming to blows with Tekashi 6ix9ine over the weekend. While people primarily took his side against the notoriously unliked 69, this time around it looks like he’s on the wrong side of public opinion.
A couple weeks back Meek teased an upcoming collaboration with Lil Baby and Lil Durk. Well today a snip leaked from a song believe to be that exact record. While Durk cannot be heard on the record, we do hear Meek and Baby and what they say has a lot of people upset.
Meek makes a reference to the late Basketball legend Kobe Bryant. Bryant and 9 others, including daughter Gianna “GiGi” Bryant, tragically perished in a helicopter accident on January 26, 2020. Their passing has left people understandably upset and sensitive to any mention of the former Laker and his untimely death.
In the snip, which was leaked by a Lil Baby fan side, Meek says “”And if I ever lack I’m going out with my choppa it be another Kobe / Sh*t I can tell they ain’t never know me,” to which Lil Baby responds “I damn near wanna have a son so I can name him Kobe.”
While no one took issue with Baby’s line, its Meek’s that has everyone up in arms.
Twitter users went to work tearing the rapper apart. Some of their responses:
“Meek Mill said what about Kobe.. going out with your chopper?!”
“I am once again asking that we cancel meek mill”
“Kobe dropping down from heaven to slap the sh*t outta Meek Mill for his line in that verse”
“Meek mill really thought that verse was acceptable…”
One user posted a picture of Lil Baby taking a chain off of someones neck and putting it back on his owb, captioning it “Lil baby after hearing what this mf Meek mill said about Kobe:”

Meek took to his twitter with some interesting post, some believe to be his response to the drama. “Somebody promo a narrative and y’all follow it…. y’all internet antics cannot stop me ….shit like zombie land or something! Lol” followed by “They paying to influence y’all now … its almost like mind control “wake up””
