Nicki Minaj announced that she was pregnant and “Barbz” all over the world rejoiced and commented, sharing their excitement with the “Super Bass” rapper. Though Minaj and husband Petty have had a bit of difficulty publicly settling into their marriage, it seems all is well with the pair. While many were celebratory, there were some that continued to be shady about her union, including ex Meek Mill.
Rapper Meek Mill has had a busy few weeks on social media channels, from battling trolls to celebrating his newborn son. The rapper turned activist has also found time to be vocal about all the changes that are being proposed in the criminal justice system around the country, that being his area of activism.
Meek Mill welcomed a son that we don’t know the name of yet, but he’s shared pictures and videos of him spending time with his new progeny. Meek seems to be enjoying daddy duties and his time with his family during the quarantine, despite what’s happening on the internet. Now, his ex-Nicki Minaj having a baby should give them something to relate over, even if it isn’t music or their past history.
Meek’s music however is also coming back to bite him with recent revelations that he’s being sued over it.
While he recently celebrated the 5 year anniversary of his sophomore album Dreams Worth More Than Money, it seems it’s his current album that is now coming back to haunt him and cause problems.
According to Bossip, Meek Mill has been named in a copyright infringement lawsuit that accuses him of jacking two songs from a Philadelphia boutique record company called Dream Rich Entertainment.
They’ve accused him, his record label Dream Chaser and parent company Atlantic Records of “civil conspiracy to commit copyright infringement.” Dream Rich alleges that Meek stole its copyrighted songs and passed them off as his own on his last album Championships.
They claim that not only did Meek Mill not give credit to the songwriters, he also had access to all the files for those two songs and basically just took them wholesale and used them for his own album. Dream Rich is suing for approximately $300K in damages.
Music issues aside, fans on the Internet immediately flocked to his social media channels to see if the “100 Summers” rapper had anything to say about Minaj’s newly announced pregnancy. While Minaj’s husband reportedly has 5 other children, it will be her first. She’d been alluding to it over the past few months and with a proper announcement, the Internet took off running.
One “Barb” made a post that went viral and was picked up by The Shade Room, and this is where Meek seemed to not be able to help himself, after being trolled by people with the announcement. He commented before deleting the post, but intrepid Internet users found his comments.
“Y’all got 1 time to share Nicki pregnancy picture on your story or timeline and you getting blocked,” the fan wrote. “She don’t know you & she didn’t post you when you were pregnant.” The troll added more, saying “Mental Health Issues… She don’t know y’all stop talking to yourself in her comments saying congrats.”
Meek Mill commented with several loss for words emojis as well as laughing ones.
