‘Meeting With Donald Trump Was The Worts Mistake Of My Life’: Steve Harvey Reveals Backlash From Black People Caused Ratings To Tumble

As America wound closer to Election Day, there were a bevy of celebrities that offered their unsolicited opinions on who they would be voting for, often irritating their fans. In a US that’s as politically divided as it is, it may have been the smarter choice to keep quiet – just ask Steve Harvey, who has said as much in retrospect.

With Election Day upon us, hindsight will always be 50/50, as the world awaits a result from one of the most heavily voted elections is recent US history. All the candidates have pulled out all the stops in order to appeal to the widest bases possible, including the Trump campaign with its courting of prominent Black entertainers.

In the beginning of his campaign to the present day, there’s been a whole host of influential figures who have now regretted their support of the President, while others have enjoyed the popularity that their endorsement has given them.

While doing an interview with CNN’s Angela Rye, Vice-President elect Harris was asked who her “favorite rapper alive” was, to which she replied, “Tupac.” Kamala and Angela then laugh when Angela reminds her that Tupac isn’t a rapper that’s alive. Kamala, in good faith, says “Not alive, I know, I keep doing that.”

Ever the trolls, the Trump campaign caught wind of it. TMZ confirmed from the Trump campaign that at the recent Vice-Presidential debates between Senator Kamala Harris and Vice-President Mike Pence, they invited Tupac to be in the audience, as a dig to the Senator.

Tupac’s stepbrother Mopreme pointed out “Trump’s lack of respect for the Black and brown community,” and that being the real issue right now – and encouraged everyone to vote.

Get Rich or Die Trying rapper 50 Cent took to social media to encourage his followers to “Vote for Trump.”  He posted a screenshot of a photo showing Biden’s plan, which he condemns because the plan raises tax rates for corporations, and for citizens whose income exceeds $400k annually.

“WHAT THE F—!” he said. “(VOTE ForTRUMP) IM OUT, F— NEW YORK,” adding “The KNICKS never win anyway.”  Sharing that Trump’s alleged dislike for Black people doesn’t bother him, he continued, “I don’t care Trump doesn’t like black people, 62% are you out of ya f—ing mind.”

Ice Cube faced (and continues to face) heavy backlash for the announcement of his collaboration with Donald Trump on his “Platinum Plan,” which allegedly includes initiatives such as “neighborhoods with the highest policing standards” and replacing “failing schools.”

“Both campaigns wanted to talk to me about the Contract with Black America,” Ice Cube said during an interview with CNN.  “One campaign said, ‘We love what you have, but let’s really dig into after the election. And one campaign said, ‘We love what you have, do you mind talking to us about it?’ And that’s what I did, so I didn’t run to nobody.”

Earlier in the administration, there was one prominent Black celebrity that took a meeting with the President at Trump Tower – Steve Harvey. At the time, Harvey was widely chastised for making the very public choice and taking the photo opportunity at the same time.

After some time, Steve realized that the choice took a hit on the ratings of all his shows during the ordeal: Family Feud, Little Big Shots, and his own self-titled talk show. Later, Harvey admitted to his error while discussing Colin Kaepernick and the NFL controversy on his syndicated radio show, “The Steve Harvey Morning Show.”
