Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are revealing and expanding. The last few days have been a public whirlwind for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. They have recently shared that they are expecting their second child in a stunning Instagram post, an announcement that usually brings families together in joyous celebration. The Sussexes may be facing a shut out from the Royal family, however, after their latest revelation.

On Valentine’s Day, the Sussexes shared their exciting news with the world. “We can confirm that Archie is going to be a big brother,” a spokesperson for Harry and Meghan said along with a beautiful black and white photo. “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to be expecting their second child.” Their choice to break the news on Valentine’s Day was a tribute to the Prince’s mother, Princess Diana, who 37 years ago shared that she was pregnant with him.
A spokesperson for Queen Elizabeth and the rest of the royal family gave a statement to PEOPLE to show the palace’s excitement. “Her Majesty, the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince of Wales and the entire family are ‘delighted’ and wish them well,” the statement read.
That’s not the only thing that the couple has chosen to share with the world. Oprah Winfrey was given the chance to interview the couple in a special 90-minute tell-all interview that will air on March 7th on CBS. This will be the first interview the Duke and Duchess have done since choosing to step down as senior members of the royal family in an attempt to achieve a normal life.
“Winfrey will speak with Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex, in a wide-ranging interview, covering everything from stepping into life as a Royal, marriage, motherhood, philanthropic work to how she is handling life under intense public pressure,” said a statement shared by Viacom. “Later, the two are joined by Prince Harry as they speak about their move to the United States and their future hopes and dreams for their expanding family.”
The news comes a day after the pregnancy announcement, which also changes the royal family’s tone. The DailyMail has reported that the Sussexes are now set to be stripped of their remaining royal patronages. This would see Prince Harry’s ties to organizations passed down through the family, as well as his three honorary remaining honorary titles, now stripped from him. Meghan could also be forced to step down from her role as a patron of the National Theatre, given to her in 2019.
Insiders from the Palace reveal there is a “great deal of nervousness” with one source telling Mirror: “One only has to look at the previous installments of the tell-all interview to know these things never end up with a wholly positive experience for any party…Everyone will be watching with intense interest.”
Buckingham Palace has reportedly chosen not to comment on the upcoming interview with Winfrey.
