“Hot Girl” Megan Thee Stallion has had quite the year. The Houston rapper caught two number one records on the Billboard Hot 100 charts with her single “Savage”, along with it’s Beyonce assisted remix, and her feature on one of the biggest records of the year, #WAP (with Cardi B).
At just 25 years old, The “Savage” rapper also recently became a four-time Grammy nominee, including for “Best New Artist” and “Record of the Year”. TIME also included Thee Stallion as one of their 100 Most Influential People in the World on their annual list in 2020, with her serving as the publication’s cover girl. “I don’t like to put the stigma of the word strong on Black women because I think it dehumanizes us, but she has strength — strength through vulnerability,” wrote actress Taraji P. Henson on the rapper in the issue.
“She’s lost much of her family — her mother, her father, her grandmother — yet she is the epitome of tenacity, of pulling herself up by her bootstraps,” Henson continued. “She was shot this summer, and still people tried to tear her down,” referring to the infamous alleged incident that occurred with Tory Lanez. Concluding her praises on the rapper she says that Megan’s “got a plan that’s much bigger. And we got her. I just want her to keep winning.”
Megan shared the excitement with her millions of followers on social sharing the cover on her page with the caption, “STILL I RISE… YOUNG BLACK WOMAN FROM HOUSTON TEXAS ON THE COVER OF TIME MAGAZINE AS ONE OF THE MOST INFLUENTIAL PEOPLE IN THE WORLD.” She joins The Weeknd, Michael B. Jordan, Jennifer Hudson, and more on the list.
Outside of all her many accolades within 2020 alone, she’s also become the object of many a celeb’s affection. Her DMs may be off the hook with various rappers flooding them unbeknownst to the public, but quite a few have shot their shot for the world to see. Slim Thug has made it clear under many of her social media posts that he is interested, sliding into her comments saying things like “Let me be yo video h*,” and asking Meg to personally model the new “Savage x Fenty” for him under a post where the brand ambassador is seen unraveling the latest collection.
“She need a Texas n—a that’s taller than her, that can handle all that a— get u a OG like B,” he also commented when she posted a video by the pool playing the “Savage” remix in the background. He isn’t alone, as now former Los Angeles Lakers player Shaquille O’Neal made a comment on her recent Instagram Live session that did NOT go unnoticed by fans.
The four-time NBA champion and current sports analyst on the television program “Inside the NBA” on TNT couldn’t seem to hold back his thoughts and feelings for the rapper and commented, “watching that booty” during her Live, which sent fans into a frenzy. Not only did fans take notice of it, but so did his eldest son who made a reaction video on TikTok with the caption “I feel you pops”.
