Nick Cannon and Damon Dash Get In Heated Dispute, After Host Allege Jay-Z Dated Foxy Brown At 16, Dame Claims He’s Unaware

Dame Dash got his start as one of Jay-Z’s business partners, as part of the Roc A Fella empire. He also became to be known for his association with deceased singer Aaliyah. After her underage marriage to R. Kelly was revealed, many became aware of underage women in the business. At one point it seems, Dash may have been aware of another underage relationship some didn’t know of – according to Nick Cannon.

Many that worked with Aaliyah loved her, though Dame Dash went on to date her. But in the time since, others have also spoken out about their love for “Baby Girl,” with former producer Timbaland making it slightly uncomfortable.

In a recently resurfaced clip, Timbaland professed his love for the singer. In a 2011 sit down with E! True Hollywood Story, Timbaland talked about the time that he first met Aaliyah during the creation of her One in a Million album, when she was 16 and he was 23.

“When I first met Aaliyah—it’s time for the world to hear this, I’m gonna give a little secret—I was in love with her,” Timbaland said. “I said, ‘She [is] just a baby, I’m old. I’m just gonna be her brother. Oh man, I was fightin’, I was fightin’ a lot—a big war. But I loved Aaliyah.”

Doubling down on the inappropriateness of the comment, Timbaland then shared that his marriage is also due in part to the deceased singer. “When I first met my wife, I knew I was going to marry her because she looked like Aaliyah,” he said.

Dash has been with partner Raquel M. Horn since approximately 2015. Damon, who appears on the show Growing Up Hip-Hop alongside his son Damon “Boogie” Dash II, the subject of Aaliyah came up and Dash shared he feels her presence.

Dash said that when they would talk and the singer’s name would come up, lightening would go off or a butterfly would appear. But the most interesting way in which Aaliyah, or her spirit, has presented herself in their relationship, is through Horn’s alleged conversations with the star.

“The death of Aaliyah was really hard on Damon,” Horn said in a confessional. “I feel like she guides me a lot and tells me how to react and how to be the best lover. She is definitely a daily part of our lives together.”

Dash’s unique relationships with people like Aaliyah and Jay-Z often come up during his interviews and that was the case when he sat down with Nick Cannon previously. In a resurfaced clip that includes Cannon peppering Dash with questions about R. Kelly and Aaliyah’s issues, a new name emerged – rapper Foxy Brown.

“At what age was Foxy Brown signed?” asked Cannon. Dash immediately tenses up, saying, “I wasn’t paying attention to Foxy Brown … I didn’t sign Foxy Brown.” When Cannon says he “thought” that Brown was 16, Dash then tells him to say what’s on his mind.

“I thought there was something between Foxy and Jay,” an ancient rumor from hip-hop’s heyday that Jay-Z took Foxy Brown’s virginity — when she was underage.

Dash makes it clear, “It sounds like you got a question for Jay … ask him.”
