The timing couldn’t be more horrible for rapper Offset to lose his wife Cardi B, who has just unleashed the phenomenon that is WAP. Nevertheless, the news broke yesterday that she has filed for divorce from Offset, and this time, it doesn’t seem like he will get a second chance from her, or fans, as they have once again proved how unforgiving they (the fans) really are.
It’s been a nearly three-year relationship filled with its share of ups and downs for Kulture’s parents. Rumors of infidelity have plagued the pair throughout the relationship, with Cardi forgiving Offset or the pair denying the allegations. Back in 2018, Offset was accused of cheating and there would be an alleged sex tape to prove. Cardi, who was inundated by fans asking what she would be doing to address the situation, wrote in a now-deleted tweet, “I’m going to make a decision in my own times with my heart and mind. I don’t need to be rushed or be told what to do. It’s my life! I belong to me not the world.”
However, it is noted that the Bronx rapper did file for divorce once before from Offset after just one year of marriage back in December of 2018. In a since-deleted video uploaded to her Instagram, Cardi revealed she felt they “grew out of love”. “We are really good friends and we are really good business partners,” said Cardi. “You know he’s always somebody that I run to talk to, and we got a lot of love for each other — but things just haven’t been working out between us for a long time.”
Further explaining her reasoning for wanting to split at the time, she concluded “It’s nobody fault I guess we just grew out of love, but we are not together anymore. It might take time to get a divorce and I’m going to always have a lot of love for him because he is my daughter’s father.” Offset’s response to the divorce news was a post simply saying “Y’all won”.
A week later Offset wrote a lengthy public apology to his wife saying, “I only got one birthday wish and that’s to get my wife back Cardi. We’re going through a lot of things right now, a lot of things in the media. I want to apologize to you Cardi. I embarrassed you. I made you go crazy.”
He went on to address his actions, before professing more of his love and how he wants his wife back. “I’m trying to be a better person,” he concluded. “I want to get this off my shoulders. I want to get this off my back. I apologize to you Cardi. I love you.” He even crashed her heading set at Rolling Loud, where he made a grand gesture on stage with tons of flowers, in the hopes that the rapper would take him back.
The couple reconciled and had since collaborated on music and did performances together. During the pandemic, the couple shared many moments together on social media where all seemed to be well in the Cephus household. Now the news has broken that Cardi is seeking to dissolve the marriage for good this time, the reason being once again, Offset’s unstoppable infidelity, and there’s reportedly “no prospect for reconciliation”.
TMZ initially reported Cardi would be seeking full custody of their daughter and child support. They then reported that the documents have been amended and she would like for the divorce to be completely drama-free. Amid the news, Offset took to his Instagram to post a pic where he is seemingly unbothered, captioning it “Grind don’t stop” as he stands in front of an expensive vehicle. The day before the divorce announcement, however, the “Clout” rapper shared a photo on his Instagram where he confessed, “I miss my granny”. Comments under the post weren’t too kind, however, as fans came under to troll the rapper.
“Just here for the divorce comments,” wrote one user as another prepares to kick him while he’s down, saying “now you about to miss your wife.” One user chose to reference Cardi’s latest hit and the #1 song for the third non-consecutive week saying, “NO MORE WAP FOR U” closing out the comment with many crying emojis.
