Cardi B and Offset, one of Hip-Hop’s favorite couples, have decided to call it quits within the last week, and the world has definitely forever changed for the two. It’s all social media seems to talk about lately as fans have been speculating on the reason for the divorce since news of the filing hit the web.
News of the divorce sent shockwaves through the world wide web seeing as though everything seemed to be just fine between the two in recent weeks and months. No official statement from either party has been issued, but fans remembered a seemingly cryptic post from Cardi that was uploaded to her stories on Instagram three days before.
The “Press” rapper selected a meme to post on her IG stories that read “Her heart finally told her to stop wasting her time”, captioning it simply with “its time” added by a winking emoji and no further elaboration. Hollywood Unlocked broke news of the divorce filing first, reporting that the documents were filed in Fulton County in Atlanta, Georgia. This being the place where she and soon to be ex-husband share a residence with two-year-old daughter Kulture Kiari Cephus.
Court documents revealed the marriage to be “irretrievably broken” and that there’s no chance of working things out. Initially, it was reported that the rapper would be seeking child support for their daughter, but sources claim that she’d rather it be an amicable process. Cardi would shortly thereafter have her lawyer amend the documents to adhere to how she would rather the process to be handled.
It’s no secret that the pair have had a pretty rocky marriage riddled with rumors (some proven to be true) of infidelity. While not proven to be a factor in the divorce, fans have chosen to single it out as the main contributor and have targeted Offset, trolling him in his comments. Speculation of the “Father of Four” rapper also impregnating another woman during their marriage begun to run rampant on social media as well, leading a member of Cardi’s team to shut the story down, claiming the rumors to be false.
Offset, in his best attempts to put the drama behind him and focus on his music and life ahead of him, has been posting content on his social media since the divorce took over headlines. Under one post, the rapper reflected on his late grandmother, which didn’t stop people from trolling him with comments like “No more WAP for you” and “now you bout to miss your WIFE. The Migos rapper has since disabled his comments due to the amount of negativity that has been directed his way.
It may seem that in Offset may also want to make a few more changes as well, if his latest Instagram post may have any say in things. He captions the picture “Set 2.0”, insinuating a new man, and new energy moving forward as he tries to redirect the narrative back to his career. He’s also been in the studio lately cooking up new music, as he also posted snippets on social media.
