A career in the entertainment industry is typified with interesting stories and working behind with some of the biggest acts in Hip-Hop would be no exception.
Hitmaka, current Vice President of Artists & Repertoire at Atlantic Records composed the catalogues of many, including: Ty Dolla $ign, Meek Mill, Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj, Wiz Khalifa, to name a few.
His trajectory was different than most. He began as a rapper named Yung Berg nearly 20 years ago with Def Jam’s Bloodline Records, a DMX-led subsidiary. He then moved on to Epic Records with a pair of releases at the back half of the 21st Century’s first decade.
In a recent appearance on Revolt TV’s “Drink Champs”, the Chicago-bred emcee-turned-producer shared some of his zaniest experiences, including one involving his former employer, DMX.
As he retells it, “I almost lost my virginity, but DMX stole my p—y. We’re in Toronto, Canada. I’m with him, he’s filming a movie with Steven Segal, Exit Wounds. We’re out there, we’re going crazy, X is on top of the world. So, we go to this club ‘cause you know X loves to play pool. So, he bout out this club and had b—-s, we were the only [men]there, but it was full of [women]. So, X was like, ‘Yo, do you shorty, I like that lil’ look for you.’
The rapper continues, [DMX] like a dog for real, in real life. He opens the door soon as I’m walking in ma, he’s like ‘Ay, ma, uhh.. I think you left your purse in my room.’ Mind you, we met these [girls] at the club, you ain’t never been to his hotel, none of that. The [girl] goes in DMX’s room and he took my first piece. .”
Hitmaka would delve into more unusual episodes of his life in the segment, including meeting the late-great Aaliyah, as well as getting arrested on a video shoot with Ray J only to be bailed out by Shaquille O’Neal, among other stories.
