Beef comes in all shapes, forms, and sizes. When it comes to Hip-Hop, beef is not something that is surprising between two artists. But two of rap’s most unsuspecting stars (and most unwelcomed to some fans of Hip-Hop), Bhad Bhabie and Iggy Azaelea, are engaged in it.
Iggy Azalea is an Australian native that came on the scene killing the mixtape game at first. She would go on to sign to T.I.’s Grand Hustle Entertainment and garner hits along the way such as “Fancy.” Meanwhile, Bhad Bhabie, real name Danielle Bregoli, rose to fame after an appearance on Dr. Phil’s show went viral. Bregoli and her mother appeared an episode where she proceeded to get belligerent with the audience, hurling insults left to right. The phrase “cash me outside, how bow dah [catch me outside, how about that] was then popularized after she chanted that. Her newfound fame would land her a deal on Atlantic Records.
Bhad Bhabie’s remix to her song “Hi Bich” included a verse in which she dissed Azalea after much comparisons to their flow and voice. “[expletive], don’t compare me to Iggy,” she spits. “That old [girl] is washed and I’m lit/Wouldn’t pay her to wash up my whip.” Iggy paid it no mind and did not respond to Bhabie, but the two would cross paths at Cardi B’s FashionNova event in Hollywood. An unexpected Iggy would find a drink thrown in her direction by the young Florida rapper while they were inside the venue, seemingly attempting to start an altercation. Azalea once again did not engage, as most of the drink also missed her.
Bhabie was later reportedly escorted from the venue, but she would continue to try and press Iggy’s buttons on social media. Azalea, however, seemed to remain unbothered as she continued to party the night away with her actress Raven Tracy. Sharing their interaction on her Instagram Stories, Azalea jokes about her wet hair, “Am I just going to have a half and half wig for the rest of the night?” She continued, “What kind of Jerry Springer…? What kind of ‘who’s baby is this’ Dr. Phil [expletive]? Oh, my God. I am a grown-up. I cannot.” Although she was uninterested in physically engaging with Bhabie, she further explained the night and their interaction while on Instagram Live.
“I get that this little girl has made a name for herself acting a damn fool on television and online, but I’m a grown-up,” explained the “Black Widow” rapper. “I’m not about to waste my energy on that or be fighting a kid in a club. Come on. I came to get a check. I left with a check. You left with your bags stuffed over there and you look silly.
“I’m not going to be scrambling around on the floor for a 15-year-old girl on the internet,” she added. “I have to laugh. I don’t know. I just think people want clout really bad. Mama, good luck with your career. You’re young. You’re going to look back on this and you’re going to really feel dumb. I just think that it’s lame, but maybe it’s ’cause I’m a grown-up. Anyway, goodnight, y’all. I’m going home. I’m tired.”
Once she arrived home, the news had already spread throughout the Internet forcing Iggy to speak further on the matter. She shared a series of now-deleted tweets writing, “Imagine me scrambling around on the floor in a dirty nightclub trying to hit a teenage girl. Girl. NO. I’m grown and will simply have you REMOVED and continue enjoying myself. #YouNotSpecial Anything else from her mouth is ignored – it’s too preschool for me.”
In a response to another fan’s message to her of what Bregoli said on Instagram about her she writes, “I literally was standing there taking pictures wide open no security. Felt water thrown on my wig. Turned around and saw all these people scuffling and screaming – I thought there was a fight in that section. I was confused about what was going on. Then some fat girl started yelling and my friend raven jumped over a sofa and was tryna fight that fat girl.
The rapper went on saying, “I saw some red hair and saw it was the Dr. Phil girl. I couldn’t hear a thing she said it’s a club and she was far. Then I stood there and was like ‘Nah I’m not leaving from right here until she is removed.’ The security escorted her out. She logged on to the gram from the parking lot I guess to claim her clout for what I don’t know. I stayed and enjoyed the night.”
The beef between the two rappers may not have ended there. Iggy Azalea released her single “Little Sally Walker” which many assumed was directed towards Bhad Bhabie. Some lyrics included in the song such as “Lil’ Sally Walker, walkin’ down the street, She didn’t know what to do, so she jumped in front of me. You ain’t gon’ do [stuff], you just act ratchet. Play with me, you gon’ get backhanded,” had fans absolutely feel as though Bhad Bhabie caught some of Iggy’s bars.
The accompanying visual for the song also included a scene which some felt was a shot towards the young rapper. A young woman in the video appears in the street with red hair, similar to that of Bhad Bhabie’s, before she gets hit by an oncoming vehicle.
