What a year it’s been for Belcalis Almanzar, better known as Cardi B. After joining forces with fellow female emcee, Megan thee Stallion, breaking the Internet with the aquatic anthem, WAP and reconciling with estranged husband and one-third of the Migos trio, Offset, the Bronx emcee has kept a stranglehold on the public eye.
The double-edge sword that is celebrity and fandom, however, cuts both ways. And while Cardi has been very outspoken about her (and others’) adoration of her; enhancements,’ the Internet, never playing favorites, is demonstratively colorful about their dislike of her latest work.

Cardi’s new look unveiled: the result of a series of procedures to her face has been cannon fodder on social media. Reportedly, the operations are categorized as a “non-invasive facelift.”
After a combination of work to her body in 2019, Cardi swore off any additional alterative procedures. She once tweeted, “I been working out for the past 2 weeks cause b—h I ain’t getting surgery again [laughter emoji] but let me tell you I haven’t got a headache ever since.” She also posted photos of her swollen feet in an Instagram Story, a complication stemming from her not taking adequate rest post operation. “Look how swollen my feet get every time I take a plane imagine my body Reasons why doctors told me to chill on shows … My stomach gets even more puffy. My feet and stomach burn when I get puffed up,” she wrote.
Perhaps contradictory, some speculate that the former Love & Hip Hop star has fewer reservations (and complications) with a non-invasive facial procedure than with a body surgery.
None of this prevented an onslaught of critical commentary from the good folks on social media, who called her “a muppet” and juxtaposed an image from an episode of That’s So Raven in which the titular character was rendered swollen beyond recognition after ingesting an offering of allergenic mushrooms.
That comparison, functioning as an extreme caricature, makes the alteration to Cardi’s visual profile apparent, nevertheless. Others have speculated that the chart-topping rapper has had a facelift as early as January 2020. Photos have circulated showing her sporting a facial covering of some sort paired with dark shades and a hat at Star Brim’s baby shower.
“Haters gonna hate” as Taylor Swift famously sang and one could image the quick-witted and slick-tongued Belcalis silencing her critics as she’s repeatedly done throughout her ascendant, star-making career. The only person to catch her off guard thus far is husband Offset, who refuted her verse, “…I don’t clean” with an Instagram photo of her handling some domestic duties.
