Rapper Jim Jones Claims He’s One Of The Top 10 Rapper Of 2021, Challenges Lil Baby, Nas, J. Cole & Jay-Z To Battle Him In The Booth

Joseph Guillermo Jones II, known famously as Jim Jones, is a Harlem based rapper and reality star associated with hip-hop imprint Dipset. Along side rappers Cam’ron and Juelz Santana, Jones is responsible for a string of hit records from the early 00’s through the 2010’s. For the last decade he’s been more associated with reality television series Love & Hip-hop and the various spin offs associated with the show. Despite not being on top of the charts in quite some time, Jones still feels he’s one of the top rappers in the game, specifically one of the top rappers of 2021. He recently took to social media to throw down the gauntlet, challenging any of the top rappers in the game right now.

Despite being a mainstay in songs and videos from Cam’ron and Juelz Santana, Jones made his proper debut in 2004 with the album On My Way To Church. He released a steady flow of music through the mid 2000’s, with his biggest hit “We Fly High” dropping in 2006. The record became one of the most popular songs that year thanks to the infection sample and the hook in which he and a gang yell “Ballin'”, becoming an instant staple in hip-hop culture. The song’s accompanied dance move crossed over into mainstream thanks to the likes of Michael Strahan and Plaxico Burress performing it after big plays during Monday Night Football games.

Jones also starred in seasons 1 and 2 of the VH1 show Love & Hip Hop: New York which premiered March 14, 2011 and November 11, 2011, respectively. The show loosely followed events in his personal life and that of his fiancée, Chrissy Lampkin. Jones and Lampkin went on to also stars in season 1 of the VH1 show Chrissy & Mr. Jones; the show follows him and Lampkin, focusing on their personal lives. The two often received some flack from fans who criticize Jones for not marrying Lampkin after 16 years of dating. In an Instagram post last summer Lampkin’s addressed this saying “Yeah my boyfriend,” she wrote. “[MF] married don’t have what we have but y’all lonely [MF] wouldn’t know nothing about it.” She followed that up with “F— off I’ll get married win [sic] the f— I want to.”

Although his music has not been as popular as it was in the past, Jones still feels like he can role with the current roster of popular acts in music. He recently reposted a 2021 top 10 rappers list by game show host Brian “B.Dot” Miller that listed Jones #10 in a list that includes Lil Baby, J. Cole, Drake, Jay-Z and Nas amongst others. “I didn’t make this list but tell @bdottm th list is cute I’m a start chopping this list down one by one lol Matters fact put me in th booth wit anyone of these artist and let’s do it live see who’s left standing Thts how we can really settle this shit like th westerns shoot th booth up Makin music is fun till u gotta go head to head I love competition”
