Lil Nas X has been a household name since his now Diamond certified debut single “Old Town Road”. When the rapper came out as gay in June of 2019, fans have been on a mad search to find Lil Nas X’s dating history. Is he in a relationship? Is he dating anybody?
While Lil Nas X is mostly an open book, when it comes to his relationship status, he is usually pretty quiet. That, however, has not stopped the assumptions from the media and fans alike on who he may or may not be romantically linked to. “I feel like if I put any guy solo in a picture with me, we’re automatically dating,” the Grammy-Award-winning rapper said in an October interview with CR Fashion Book. “One time, I was sitting in Subway with my brother, and then a few hours later there was [a headline], ‘Lil Nas X and his boyfriend eating Subway to celebrate 17 weeks at number one.'”
Lil Nas X, real name Montero Lamar Hill, did reveal in the same interview that he is currently seeing someone. “I’m dating someone right now… We’re not in a relationship yet, but it’s been on and off for the past few months. I’m maybe going to try to go steady this time,” he said, opting to not reveal the identity of whom he is seeing.
Although he may be thinking to get serious with his current lover, judging from his latest tweet, Nas X may not want to commit to marriage. However, he enjoys the fanfare of a wedding ceremony/celebration and would like for them to be “normalized” without having the “marriage” attached – labeling it “bondage”.
In the tweet, Lil Nas X states: “[I] feel like weddings are dope but not marriage. [It’s] time we normalize weddings without the bondage of being with someone for the rest of your life.”

After the rapper’s tweet, he was met with immediate backlash and criticism. One fan’s response on Twitter read, “What’s the point of a wedding if no one married. This n***a don’t know parties exist or sumn?” Another wrote, “What’s the point of getting married if you aren’t going to stick it out with them? You’re promoting lust on a sacred bond that has been created for the unification of 2 people. It is meant for ‘for death do us apart’.”
Some chose to enlighten him on their marriage experience. “Speaking from the perspective of someone who’s gone through with it, being married is way, way more dope than planning a wedding tbh,” commented one. “Being married to the right person [raising hands emoji], Being married to the WRONG person is hell on earth,” writes another.
Lil Nas X is currently gearing up for the release of his next single, “Call Me By Your Name”. The song has no release date at this time.
