Megan Thee Stallion seems determined to not let her situation with Tory Lanez and very real injuries get her down. After returning back to the Internet triumphantly after her ordeal, she’s been on a roll ever since, releasing new music and covering magazines. Underneath it all, she is still healing and has shared some insights from all that’s transpired.
While the Internet was intent on protecting Meg’s honor, they were also simultaneously out for blood when it came to the subject of Tory Lanez. Though we’ve yet to hear any official police reports or next steps, Tory’s gone largely absent and radio silent and hasn’t confirmed anything from his perspective. All we’ve heard at this point is Megan’s side of the story and the Internet’s anger towards Lanez.
After a petition was circulated online for Lanez’s deportation, some outlets had started to report that the Canadian-born artist had been deported. However, it turned out to be false when it then was shown that Tory was indeed still in the States, having been spotted in Orlando, Florida at a McDonald’s.
According to blog The Neighborhood Talk, they’ve received an exclusive from a source connected directly to Tory that gave them a statement – the first anyone had heard from Lanez since all of this drama went down.
“Obviously Tory has not been deported and is self-quarantining with his family. This is a perfect example of false information being spread regarding this case, his whereabouts and his character. He’s in good spirits and looks forward to having the truth come to light about that night and wishes nothing but the best for Meg.”
The best is exactly what Megan has been getting since all of this drama with Tory Lanez first broke.
Megan’s no doubt going to be back on the top of the charts next week, as she features on Cardi B’s just-released single “WAP.” It’s going to be the end of a real “hot girl summer” indeed for Megan, as she also comes off another Top 10 hit with her “Savage” remix featuring Beyoncé. The “WAP” song became the trending discussion of social media the moment it was released at midnight.
The song is the first bit of new music she’s released since her incident, though it was more than likely already recorded pre-foot injuries. The two rappers both appear in the surreal video, with other appearances from such luminaries as Kylie Jenner, Normani, Rosaliá and others. The Colin Tilley directed video quickly surpassed a million views.
Though she’s back to work and keeping herself happy through her music, Megan’s been sharing anecdotes while she recovers and celebrating her successes with her fans on her Instagram Live and she recently shared about how she found herself feeling betrayed by her friends after all that had transpired.
“I just feel very betrayed by a friend. I felt very betrayed by all my friends. I felt very shocked, very scared,” said Megan. “The one thing that y’all need to know about me is I’m not a person who is able to be down for a long time. I’m not a person who is…I don’t like to be victimized… I like to be upbeat.”
Being upbeat while recovering from a traumatic injury is no easy feat, but Megan chalks up the ability to her grandmother’s advice – which she shared with her followers as well. “My grandma always told me don’t let nobody steal your joy, so that’s the type of person I am. I’m never gon’ let nobody steal my joy.”
