Few are having a better freshman arch than Houston rapper Megan Thee Stallion. The “Savage” hitmaker went from a bubbling MC to a full fledged pop force in a short amount of time. The level of work she’s done in the last year and things she’s accomplished is truly a feat. One would assume she’s probably exhausted. Well it turns out Meg is, and she’s ready to take a break, even if fans aren’t ready for her to.
2020 alone had some of the highest highs and lowest lows of Meg’s short career. She dominated the Covid year with a string of viral hits that carried her through to 2021. “Savage” was by far the biggest, thanks in large part to its viral dance challenge on TikTok. The song became so massive it nabbed her a Beyonce remix and a Grammy nomination for Song of The Year. While she did not take home the top award that evening, she did score a win for Best Rap Performance and shared a tender moment with Beyonce at the podium.

Speaking of the Grammys, Meg also took the stage with her WAP collaborator Cardi B. The two sent the internet into a frenzy with their raunchy duet which began an instant #1 hit and was certified 6x platinum within a few short months. The two celebrated with a show stopping performance including giant stripper heels, CGI and a crazy dance combo that everyone was trying to recreate the next day.
Of course it has not been all W’s for Meg. While she now seems to be happily passing her time with boyfriend and fellow rapper Paridson Fountaine, it was only last year she was wrapped up in a nasty altercation with Tory Lanez that resulted in her getting shot in the foot. The real story of what happened that evening still remains a mystery, with Meg opting to stay quiet out of fear of police harming Lanez, and Lanez being silenced by a gag order. Meg’s last rant on the issue came in late February after she began frustrated by people saying she may have been lying on Lanez for press or hype. She told her followers “AT THIS POINT IM GETTING ANNOYED ! STOP BELIEVING EVERYTHING YOU READ ON THE MF INTERNET.” She told her followers. “Imagine how I feel waking every day seeing people LIE and turn my trauma into a joke ? That whole team figures out ways to create doubt with my story every week and the media eats it up.”
With that kind of year, its no wonder Meg might need a break. However fans need not fear, cause the rapper will be on our screens for a few weeks as a judge on HBO’s Legendary. She announced her hiatus in a series of images showing her in a chamber straight out of a sci-fi flick. The “Hottie” is laying sleep with her eyes closed, hooked to a machine.
The screen before her flashes the following message, “Megan Thee Stallion is recharging! Due to the demands of the Hot Girl lifestyle, <Meg> has not entered a period of regeneration to prepare for what’s next. In her absence, mgmt will manage all social posting on behalf of Thee Hot Girl Coach. [Thee Hotties] lead a brave //RESISTANCE in anticipation for the return of their Fearless Captain!”
