Clifford “T.I.” Harris just can’t seem to keep his foot out of his mouth. The Atlanta rapper is not immune to the backlash he’s received for his (sometimes unsolicited) advice on women’s issues. Just as well, seemingly no woman is immune to his comments on their issues, or women in general, as those in his family have also been on the receiving end. Often social media comes to remind him of his past and consistent transgressions, especially his constant cheating on his wife, Tameka “Tiny” Harris.
The couple have been together since 2001 when T.I. was still an up-and-coming rapper while Tiny had already seen major success with R&B group Xscape. By then, Tiny had also been credited on massive hit singles from acts like TLC and Destiny’s Child. Their union has not been an easy one as it has been mired with issues including but not limited to infidelity.
Due to all of the problems in the marriage, Tiny filed for divorce multiple times. However, the couple would reconcile shortly after. According to Tiny, their marriage shifted after he served time in prison. It was during this time that she began to find her voice and independence. “Once I got on my own two feet, I felt like I should have a voice too. And that voice was a little different than what he was used to. So that, to me, is what caused the issue,” she said during their appearance on Red Table Talk.
“I feel like he felt like, ‘Mm. This is not the woman I love and this is not what I want,” she added. “I want somebody that if I tell her this, she’s gonna listen, and she’s gonna do this the way I want her to do it’.”
When asked why she never left, Tiny admitted that at the time she saw sufficient change in her husband. “You came back as if you really wanted to work things out and really wanted the relationship,” she said to T.I. in the interview.
In a separate conversation that the couple shared had with another Hollywood couple, Boris Kodjoe and Nicole Ari-Parker, on his ExpediTIously podcast. The couples spoke on their respective relationships and T.I. had this to offer as it pertains to his wife, Tiny’s forgiveness towards his infidelity. “I think that’s how she got to be such a good human. Because of me f*****g up so much,” he said. This in particular after sound words given from Kodjoe about his marriage experience to Nicole.
The rapper’s comments did not sit too well with many on social media who are aware of T.I.’s indiscretions. “‘She’s a better human because of all my f**k ups’… Wooow. I dont want to be a ride or die. F–k that s–t. I hate how he (TI) try to normalize his bs ‼️ Tiny so damn bamboozled it’s sad… all men don’t cheat,” wrote one user. “T.I. doesn’t realize you don’t *have* to have dirt??? What a clown. Whew throw the whole man away. Stop cheating on your wife smh,” writes another.
T.I. and Tiny will celebrate 11 years of marriage this year.
