Rapper Wiz Khalifa is a man of many hits, which includes the 11x Platinum-certified smash hit “See You Again” (from the Furious 7 Original Motion Picture Soundtrack), but the rapper’s greatest hit would be his son with ex-wife Amber Rose.
The North Dakota born, Pittsburgh-bred rapper and Amber Rose (who famously dated Kanye West before him) began to date in early 2011 before he put a ring on it in March of 2012. The former couple married in 2013, but after just one year of marriage, they decided to divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. However, their split has been the definition of amicable, with Khalifa running to become the father of the year to their son Sebastian Taylor, who was born in 2013.
One thing that the rapper has taken pride in is being an amazing father to his now 7-year-old son. And despite his divorce with ex-wife Amber, the two have made impeccable strides at remaining amicable in their co-parenting. “Wiz and I are family and we will be family for the rest of our lives for Sebastian,” Rose wrote in a now-deleted 2017 post on Instagram. “We’ve been through hell and back so a kiss on the lips for a photo and a night out of fun is not a big deal for either of us, we are in a great place but we are very much still divorced and not together.”
Both have moved on to different relationships, with Rose now dating Alexander “A.E.” Edwards, and Khalifa dating Aimee Aguilar. Amber and Edwards also share a baby boy, Slash, born in October 2019.
The blended family has all been seen together on numerous occasions, and all seems to be going extremely well for each of the parties. This year they got together to celebrate Sebastion’s 7th birthday in an IT themed party, centered around the character “Pennywise”, at an indoor activities center before the shutdown due to the crisis. Rose posted a picture on her social media to show the celebratory event with all parties involved, wishing her “smart, articulate, sensitive, compassionate, baby boy,” a happy birthday. “He is so Blessed to have Amazing Family and Friends that Love him so much! WE LOVE YOU PUMPKIN,” she captioned the post.
Speaking with Us Magazine, Amber spoke on their relationships. “[Khalifa] is very cool with Alex,” Rose claims. “I’m very close to his girlfriend, Aimee [Aguilar]. If I can’t get Wiz on the phone if he’s in-studio or something, I always call Aimee and she’ll put me on FaceTime with Sebastian. It’s just cool. You just gotta let all the bulls–t go and make the kids happy.”
Doubling down in a separate interview with the same magazine she says about Wiz, “We’ve always been really good at co-parenting. Even if you technically still have feelings for that person maybe right after the breakup, it’s not about your feelings, it’s not about what they’re doing in their personal life, it’s about the kids,” the model states. “Wiz and I, we talked about that very early on.”
Khalifa is never shy of sharing pics of his time spent with Sebastian and his love for his son. Take for instance an adorable capture of a moment shared between the father and son combo in front of an old school Chevy Impala, wearing matching $7k Off-White x Nike dunks, and Wiz donning a “dad hat” with the words “SMILE: You’re somebody’s reason to keep going.”
The rapper has even made sure to take the time out of his busy schedule to take on coaching duties, as he is one of the coaches for his son’s baseball team. “I love children and this is the most important time in his life,” Wiz said to Kelly Clarkson on her daytime talk show. “Especially spending it with me, and having his friends and the relationships that they’re gonna build–any hand that I can have in that, I’m trying to do it.”
Another moment where Wiz proclaimed how proud he was in his son was when over the summer, he tweeted that Sebastian had referred to one of his neighbors as a “Karen” after an incident that occurred. “My son just called the neighbor Karen for tryin to shit [sic] down the party last night,” he tweeted before adding, “That’s awesome.”

Although he has shown how active of a father he is, Khalifa has unfortunately come under “social media” fire a few times for his choices in parenting. When Sebastion was 5, his first day of Kindergarten began with him seen riding the school bus, normal activity for most children. “1ST DAY OF KINDERGARTEN,” he wrote on Instagram. “RODE THE BUS AND ERE THANG.”
While some fans shared well wishes for “Bash” (the nickname affectionately given to Sebastian), some fans slammed the rapper and his model ex for their decision due to his celebrity. Khalifa shared a response to the negative comments saying, “Being rich don’t got nothing to do with a child’s experiences. He said he wanted to ride the bus with his friends, so let kids do what they want to do. Chill.”
And now, the rapper is coming under fire again for what some fans are deeming inappropriate for a father to do with his son. In a post uploaded to his social media that sparked controversy, Khalifa is seen sharing a kiss on the lips to his 7-year-old, and while some fans thought it was cute and loving, others criticized the rapper.
“Wiz Khalifa really needs to stop kissing his son on the mouth like that,” said one Twitter commenter in response to the video. “He’s seriously way too old for him to be doing that.” Another wrote, “Wiz Khalifa son too d*mn big for him to be kissing him in his mouth like that. [Sebastian is] 7 [years old], and the way [Wiz] kissed him is creepy.”
Meanwhile some fans came to the rapper’s defense. “Y’all weird for trying to sexualize Wiz Khalifa kissing his own SON,” one fan wrote towards critics. Another wrote “Good morning y’all… Can we stop criticizing & placing limits on how Black Men are to show affection & love to their children? Damned if you do, damned if you don’t. Let that man kiss his son!”
