Ashanti fans are still disappointed that her scheduled Verzuz battle was recently derailed due to her contracting COVID-19, and have to now wait until Saturday, January 9th. Her battle with R&B star Keyshia Cole was an anticipated one with folks ready to see the “Foolish” singer bring her catalog of hits up against the “Let It Go” singer’s arsenal.
“Hey ya’ll I can’t believe this but I tested positive,” Ashanti wrote in an Instagram post explaining why the battle had to be rescheduled. “I’m ok and not in any pain.” While she would no longer be able to be on location with Cole to participate in the Timbaland and Swizz Beatz created event, she continued on to express that she was still down to make the event happen as planned. “I’m actually down to do the verzuz from my house… we’re trying to figure it all out!!!” she stated.
Her supporters, ready to cheer the former Murder Inc. “R&B Princess” on with her solo hits and collaborations with frequents like Ja Rule and Fabolous, would not only be able to do so but have to hold off just a few more weeks to see the look that Ashanti would bring to the showdown. The Long Island native has been shaking the Internet with her oft risque’ outfits and tresses that accentuate her voluptuous curvy figure, and no doubt would’ve brought the heat that December evening.
Just one quick scroll through Ashanti’s Instagram page will show a plethora of eye-catching looks that of course fill her comment section with praise and adoration, as well as criticism. And although she hasn’t released a body of work in a few years, she was still gracing stages nationwide via spot dates and club appearances.
Her choice of performance wear, however, has garnered some attention in her way that was indeed uninvited. Unapologetic in her choices, she touches the stage sometimes in catsuits, and other barely-there clothing, no different from other female performers. Last year during a performance in Honolulu, Ashanti stopped her show mid-set to chastise a fan for throwing money on the stage, in the same manner, one would do at a strip club. “Imma need you to stop throwing that money,” she angrily stated on the mic, leading the crowd to cheer her on in support. “I am not a f*****g stripper.”
In another performance for a New York Fashion Week event held at The Plaza Hotel last September, Ashanti’s usual thirst trapping outfits were once again brought center stage, garnering a bunch of different reactions on social media. Set to blaze the stage for the PrettyLittleThing x Saweetie catwalk show, the singer turned heads when she pranced on stage in bold animal-print garb that left little to nothing to the imagination, especially in the lower region.
All of her curves were definitely hugged and accentuated in the right places, with a thong that exposed all of her cheeks and barely covered her unmentionables. Photos of the singer could be seen posing while singing in a way that exposed her assets even more.

Ashanti, who also has her own collaboration with the brand and a song “Pretty Little Thing” that features Afro B, drew a bunch of different reactions on social media for the outfit, with many saying that she needed a stylist immediately for her Megan Thee Stallion-esque choice. “She Definitely Should’ve Left This Style To THE STALLION,” one fan wrote on Twitter, “I’m Disappointed In Ashanti Fine A**.” Another wrote “This is not a good look. Even Megan the stallion wouldn’t be caught out there like this,” while another fan criticized, “I love her but this looks a mess.”
Some fans highlighted the dark area surrounding her inner thighs and questioned what was going on down there. “Did this b—h really not shave ? or is that area just dark cause I’m confused,” one Twitter user comments. One of her fans saw a different perspective for the “Baby” singer. “Ya know, Ashanti has a real body so that isn’t the issue,” they tweeted. “A lot of women struggle with dark inner thighs and don’t know what to do about it. Using Tumric [sic[, flour, Greek yogurt, & lemon on the inner thigh area & rinse it off with warm water; do it everyday until it clears up.“
